EXPERIENCE | Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie The Cocoon Body Wrap

Cocoon body wrap was complimentary in exchange for my honest review.

I never would have thought to find myself back in Toronto after my last visit in August of last year because it really is quite a journey from Vancouver though we all talk about the trek like it's just a trip to the grocery store. Many of you know that I was in #The6ix for GenBeauty and lemme tell ya, I booked that flight so fast and spontaneously that I felt like a crazy person. I DON'T like to fly, but the thought of meeting so many of my favourite Toronto bloggers and PR peeps was enough for me to haul my Vancouver ass out there!

One of the things I absolutely knew I had to do on this VERY girly visit to Toronto was to pay another visit to the Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie at the Shangri-La! My last visit (review) had me so relaxed and my skin feeling SO GOOD that I had to book another appointment! PR was kind enough to book me in for the newest treatment for spring - the Cocoon Body Wrap* (45 min - $155 Mon-Fri or $165 Sat, Sun, Holidays), a treatment focused on hydration, exfoliation and cell renewal, but I also asked for the signature Grand Caudalie Facial (which I paid for) because I loved it so much the first time. It's kind of expensive at $170, but I was on vacation and got my tax return so it's ok right?

I was excited to try the new treatment because I have never experienced a body wrap before. In my mind, it sounds like a constricting and very "un-fun" treatment, but only because of my positive experience with Miraj did I allow my esthetician, Asami, to wrap me up! The treatment begins with a dry exfoliation with the same mitt used in the gommage treatment to remove dead skin cells except that your skin is completely dry. This sounds like it would be painful, but it is completely relaxing as each of your limbs, back, stomach and breasts are gently and effectively exfoliated. The latter two areas are optional, but for those of you who are familiar with how the hammam works FULL body treatments are really what they are BEST at. This is also such a luxurious experience that I would want every inch of my body to get the TLC it deserves!

After the dry brushing, a blend of citrus oils was rubbed onto my skin followed by a rich massaging moisture treatment of Caudalie's Vine Body Butter. I was then wrapped in a surprisingly light, but clingy plastic-like sheet and then a larger sleeping bag style "cocoon". For the next 20 minutes, Asami let my skin "marinate" while she gave me the best head massage EVER. At this point,
I was trying really hard to stay awake, but I will admit that the 3 hour time difference was getting to me so nap time was imminent! I kept telling Asami how sorry I was for falling asleep! I don't normally fall asleep during facials or spa treatments because I want to be awake to enjoy the treatments, but this was getting tough! 20 minutes later, Asami was unwrapping me and telling me it was time for my Grand Caudalie Facial! I won't review the facial again, but the main difference between this facial and the last was that my skin was quite congested this time so instead of hydrating treatments we focused on exfoliation.

I wore slide-in flat shoes to this appointment and I was SO MOISTURIZED that I was just sliding around in my clothes.I felt a little greasy during the treatment, but by the time I was done I was just very SMOOOOTH. Even when I showered that night I didn't need to moisturize which was very impressive! The Cocoon Body Wrap, while an indulgence, is the perfect way to start summer by sloughing off that dead skin and revealing a brand new baby soft glow!
