MAKEUP LOOK | "Office Chic" with Maison Jacynthe

I'm as office chic as I can be with my mermaid hair in today's Maison Jacynthe look! I work in a pretty conservative environment and deal with vendors who are pretty serious so in the last two months I have received comments of praise and wonderment that I have been "allowed" to get away with this. Honestly, you only live once and if you actually style "fun" coloured hair and not let it look grubby, you can wear a suit and look perfectly presentable. Obviously I don't wear blue or green lips to match as the hair is enough, but it has been interesting to see how people react!

For the better part of the Fall and Winter season last year, bloggers were raving about Maison Jacynthe (formerly Les Soins de Jacynthe), a 100% natural green beauty Quebec-based brand created by Jacynthe Rene.  I first reviewed their skincare almost a year ago (here) and now that they are newly re-branded and have beautiful makeup as well! The website is still en francais, but the ingredient listings are in English. Even if you don't speak French, the pretty pictures are all you need to help you find what you need!

Green beauty does skincare REALLY well, but makeup can often be a disappointment because all of the qualities most people look for such as longevity and pigmentation can't be done with natural ingredients. I think natural "technology" is getting better because I have been fairly impressed with a number of green makeup products with these Maison Jacynthe products falling right into that category!

The Rouge à Lèvres in 01 Rouge Mate* ($33.00 CDN) is a poppy-coloured lipstick I am so in love with (cliche blogger thing to say, I know), but it is just such a stunning colour! It is mega intense and actually reminds me a lot of Urban Decay's Vice Lipsticks when it comes to how this feels on the lips. This isn't super creamy and hydrating, but slightly satin in finish. The plus side of having a not-so-creamy formulation is the longer lasting power. Though this lipstick transfers, I still have a solid colour on my lips hours after application. All of the shades look truly delicious and I would get more in a heartbeat!

In keeping with being eco-friendly, all powder products from Maison Jacynthe have two forms of packaging - with a compact and without in order to reduce waste. The pans fit perfectly into my Z Palette and I am all for reducing packaging!

The Blush in 01 Romeo* ($26.00 CDN) was another wonderful surprise for me as I was expecting a formula that was somewhat chalky. Well, I was wrong again and this brick-shaded beauty was pigmented, soft and long-wearing!

The Eyeshadow in 09 Affogato* ($22.00 CDN) was probably the product I liked the least and not because the formulation was bad, but because I thought the colour would be more purple instead of grey. This just goes to show that swatches really are the most helpful. This was a matte shadow that was soft, pigmented and blended easily. On my eyes, this shade looked more like a taupe which made me feel more comfortable wearing to work.

Since Maison Jacynthe is all about healthy makeup, all of the products I have used on my face (except for one) for today's look are from brands that pledge to have only the healthiest of ingredients in their products! You will definitely see more of these brands in April for Earth Day!

Face:
Sappho Liquid Foundation in Lisa* (old formulation)

Brows:
None. Brows are microbladed.

Eyes:
Apply Evelyn Iona Organic Perfecting Primer.
Apply Maison Jacynthe Eye Shadow in 09 - Affogato* all over the lid with a more intense concentration on the outer V and smoke it all out!
Apply Affogato along lower lash line.
Line lower waterline with black eyeliner.
Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes like Zorah's Pure Argan Volumizing Mascara*.
Apply natural looking false lashes.
