This month's CBB theme is skincare which I am LOVING because it is one of my favourite things to write about because I think of it as akin to "beauty biology". It requires testing on the LARGEST bodily organ which can react well or poorly to whatever you have been doing to it! Maybe I have only paying attention to skincare in the last decade, but I feel like it's a lot more FUN now. North American skincare is going the route of Asian "skintertainment" and I feel like there really is no excuse for NOT taking care of your skin when it has become this entertaining!
Multi-masking is a concept that first started emerging in North America about 3 years ago and honestly I never really did it. I still don't really do it much even though it makes total sense to do so! My chin is oily while my cheeks are sensitive and the areas around my nose and forehead are dry. This sounds like three different masks to me so when I saw that the Avon Beauty Boost Face Masks* ($30.00 CDN) had a bit of everything I knew I had found my solution!

This beautifully packaged deluxe sampler contains six single-use masks (if you are using one for your whole face) for specific skin concerns as well as a bonus booster serum to enhance the effects of the masks. There are cream, gel and clay masks in here that act to: brighten, detox, soothe, moisturize, firm and energize so really something for everyone!
The masks are colour-coded and are actually the same colour as their packaging making multi-masking a fun little colouring activity! Start by applying the Super Booster Serum to clean, dry skin. This is an oil-free, lightweight serum containing aloe, vitamin A, C and E and a number of plant extracts high in anti-oxidants.
For my multi-masking clown face, I decided to use the Detox Clay Mask, with charcoal and green clay, on my forehead and chin, the Brightening Clay Mask, with green tea and vitamin C, on my cheeks and the Moisturizing Cream Mask, with hyaluronic acid, around my nose. I tried to make it look pretty, but I just looked kind of goofy!
I had bits of each mask leftover so I just sealed them up in an airtight sandwich bag to use for next time. I have yet to use the others, but when I removed all three masks, the areas of skin with the clay masks felt "purified" upon removal and my nose wasn't as flaky in the corners. I don't know if my cheeks were necessarily brighter though...
Final verdict: I thought this set was super cute and something I was expecting from Avon! It's a great little gift for yourself or someone else and is a fun way to experiment with multi-masking in a non-threatening way. The masks smell good too and the colours DO make it all a bit more fun. If you multi-mask, these single use packages will definitely last you a couple of sessions so indulge yourself and have some fun this month!
