SKINCARE | Julep Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System with "Melfie"

I have been doing my best to stay on track this month with the theme of skincare for the CBB which has really forced me to use the sheet masks that I have sitting around and of course all of the other wonderful bottles of skincare that are sitting around my office. I am finding things that I haven't even OPENED from 2 years ago that I'm sure have now lost their efficacy, but I cannot bring myself to chuck out. I just hate waste!

I swore I would not get more sheet masks until I finally made a dent in the collection I have, but when I saw Julep's new Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System ($12 USD), I was intrigued and subbed it into one of my Maven boxes instead of polish. I had been skipping the boxes for almost a year, but ever since they started moving into Asian skincare I have been paying more attention to the new products that come out with almost every month!

Julep Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System Review

I have recently gotten into sheet masks that come with one use tear-off packets so that all you really need for a complete facial or skincare routine is the one pouch. Usually the mask is one of your many skincare steps, but with the bells and whistles attached systems like these make it really easy and fun.

The Julep Triple Quench System contains: an essence, bio-cellulose mask and a hydrating sleeping pack to lock in moisture.

Essence Ampoule Gel

The first step is the prep step so after I cleanse and tone, I apply this gel all over my face. It has an interesting texture because it squeezes out as a gel then as it warms up in the palm of your hand, it becomes quite watery and NOT sticky which some essences can feel like. It absorbs very quickly into the skin and is the first step of hydration as this essence uses quick-absorbing and moisturizing ingredients like panthenol and hibiscus fruit extract.

Step 1 Ingredients: WATER/EAU, GLYCERIN, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, PANTHENOL, BETAINE, CARBOMER, ARGININE, HIBISCUS ESCULENTUS FRUIT EXTRACT, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, GLYCERYL POLYACRYLATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE

Natural Bio-Cellulose Gel Sheet Mask

This is the best part - the bio-cellulose mask! The mask has a blue tinge and is VERY thin. This is the selling feature of a bio-cellulose mask as it truly feels like skin so the idea is that ingredients in the mask are able to infuse the skin more readily with skin goodness as the barrier is almost "biomimetic". These masks are SO thin that they come sandwiched in between two layers of plastic mesh and even though I knew the mask was in there, there were times when I doubted it!

I would highly advise following the instructions and peeling off just one side first, putting the gel side down on your skin and then peeling off the second layer of mesh because if you try to peel off both layers at once, there is a 95% chance that parts of the mask will fold in on itself. Good luck trying to separate the layers without tearing the mask!

After 15-20 minutes, or an episode of  "The Office", I remove the mask and massage in remaining mask essence which in this case, is quite thick. Like, it feels almost like cream! I probably could have gone without any other moisture after this point, BUT this is a TRIPLE hydration system so there is one more step!

Step 2 Ingredients: WATER/EAU, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, METHYLPROPANEDIOL (solvent which enhances absorption of other ingredients), 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, HYDROXYETHYL UREA (humectant) , BETAINE, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, PANTHENOL, CARBOMER, ARGININE, XANTHAN GUM, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, GARDENIA FLORIDA FRUIT EXTRACT (antioxid
ant), GLYCERYL POLYACRYLATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, VACCINIUM ANGUSTIFOLIUM (BLUEBERRY) FRUIT EXTRACT

Sleeping Pack

This is the first time I have seen a Sleeping Pack as a final step as usually it goes, toner, ampoule and finally mask. The sleeping pack is a thick cream and though the residue on my face wasn't tacky, it was pretty hydrating and took some time to absorb. When I woke up in the morning though, my skin looked almost "fat" it was so plump!

I mentioned this in my IG stories when I was live masking with this system, but a huge plus for me is that not one of the steps had silicones in them so my skin wasn't being artificially "smoothed over" like it was with the Laneige Sleeping Mask. Dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane DO work, but I just hate them in sleeping masks.

Step 3 Ingredients: WATER/EAU, GLYCERIN, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, ARACHIDYL ALCOHOL, BEESWAX, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, ARACHIDYL GLUCOSIDE, ARGININE, CARBOMER, XANTHAN GUM, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, GLUCOSE

Final Verdict: If you have seriously parched skin, this system is the ticket! Even though my skin has been on the normal/dry side, I still found the results to be positive though the sleeping pack felt a bit like overkill and I probably would have stopped with the mask or used an oil-free moisturizer as my final step. I liked that there was just enough essence and sleeping pack for my face and neck. The last thing I wanted was to keep leftovers of little pink sachets around the bathroom! I liked this system and bought 5 more masks for the future because the hydration was "comfortably intense" and I didn't have to contend with my face being stuck to my pillow at night! That is the worst!

You can purchase the Julep Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System on Julep.com and now ULTA for those in the States!
