I have slowly become a complete sucker for good brushes and there was a time when I could never imagine spending more than $10 on a makeup brush and that's not to say there aren't good brushes out there for that price, but when it comes to a good face or eyeshadow blending brush, I now definitely have my favourites! There's nothing more annoying than a brush that sheds more hair than I do or one that doesn't blend out my eyeshadow!
The Sephora Collection has had some serious game in the brush department in recent years with their PRO line being one of my favourites for the eyes and every season Sephora always glams up their most loved brushes and when I saw a sneak peek of their latest collaboration with artist and photographer, James Goldcrown, I became Ms. Grabbyhands!

The JGoldcrown Bleeding Hearts Brush Set* ($38.00 CDN) is a collection of five full-sized face and eye brushes for: foundation, highlight, concealer, eyeshadow and crease with James Goldcrown's iconic "Bleeding Hearts" design as seen on countless murales around the world.
The brushes come in a pink and silver zippered case with a mesh pocket on the side for maybe a few extra small eye brushes, but nothing more as the case is quite flat with not much give. Personally, I would rather keep the brushes in a loose travel bag as I found the cloth brush holders a bit finicky as the fabric was so soft that it would collapse while trying to fit the brushes in.
The bottom part of the ferrule has a brushed nickel/chrome texture and makes for a cool-looking brush. I try not to touch this part of the brush too much because when my nails scrape the grooves, it makes for a "nails on a chalkboard" type of feeling which makes my teeth grind...I think this might just be a Jayne issue though.
As for the quality of the brushes, they are really quite lovely. They don't shed no matter how vigorously I use them and are incredibly soft. The complexion brush has a density I like for buffing product and the highlight brush is now one of my favourites as it deposits the right amount of product with just one pass. The angled eyeshadow brush is also one of my favourites as it blends my shadow from lid to crease without too much effort while feeling soft and fluffy.
Final verdict: I am probably going to give away the case, but all of five brushes are going into the regular brush rotation! I wish there had been a large powder brush for loose powder or setting powder, but this is a good little core collection that covers most makeup bases (no pun intended).
When I had this written, the JGoldcrown Collection was still available at Sephora, but now I think it's sold out?!
