MAKEUP | New Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl in Rose and Noir Revelateur

From Grade 9 to my first year of university, I pretty much had one lipstick look - a nude/blush coloured lipstick topped off with a clear sticky gloss. Preferably one that had sparkles in it and I am pretty sure it all started with that one Bonne Bell lipgloss I found in the beauty aisles of London Drugs. I have since graduated from my Bonne Bell days, but that habit of lipstick plus a glossy lip topper is still embedded in my beauty habits. Sometimes you really like the lipstick you have on, but you just want your lips to look extra kissable! Though the Gloss Interdit Vinyl lipglosses come in some seriously intense colours (I just ordered Gangsta Nude!), Givenchy released three made-to-measure colour boosting shades that can be worn alone or on top of lipstick to enhance the intensity and I have two of them to share with you today!

There are three colour boosting shades of Gloss Interdit Vinyl: Rose Revelateur, Noir Revelateur and Electric Pink Revelateur and I have Rose and Noir to dive into!

These are my first Gloss Interdit Vinyl glosses so I oogled the packaging for a solid couple of seconds before using them because luxe products like this are just begging for attention! The tube is a thick plastic, the cap is emblazoned with "Givenchy" and I feel like I am using something reeeeal nice.

At first, I thought the "G"-stamped applicator was going to be gimmicky, but in actuality it was quite ergonomic in shape and feel! There is a slight dip in the center that gently hugs the curve of the lips and helps to deposit just the right amount of gloss. I also did not think it would be very precise because the applicator wasn't pointy and I have a very pronounced cupid's bow, but I was wrong! The applicator was small enough that I still had control and accuracy so I didn't have to worry about going outside of my lip lines.

Rose Revelateur 01* is a sheer glossy pink that is intended to enhance your natural lip colour while Noir Revelateur 16* is a bit more adventurous and also enhances your natural lip colour while adding a bit of depth and an air of mystery. While I could guess what Rose looked like on me, I really had no idea what to expect with Noir!

In the lip swatches below, I am wearing Urban Decay's Bun Bun, a deep nude, as my base. In the first photo, Rose layered on top of Bun Bun makes for a deliciously non-sticky, high-shine lip look! I was paranoid about making the lip gloss in the tube dirty, so I have been meticulously wiping off the "G" before putting it back into the tube!

Noir layered on top of Bun Bun did give an intriguing effect, but be warned that when you first apply it, you will want to keep spreading the black around your lips to make it look even, but don't worry! It eventually does even out on its own. I am honestly not sure if I would wear Noir all that much, but it does make my one shade of lipstick look a bit deeper and smokier in colour.

Final verdict: Noir is cool and interesting, but I honestly don't think I would use it that much. If I had a darker skin tone I might since this would really spruce up those deep berry lipstick colours.
Rose Revelateur takes me back to the beginnings of when I first started wearing makeup, but with much more sophistication. The scent, applicator and just how SMOOTH this formula was is just oh so nice. On its own and with your favourite lipstick, Rose Revelateur is the shade I say go for. Yes, it's just an almost clear lipgloss, but you only need one in your makeup collection so make this be the one!

The Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl Lip Glosses are available at Sephora.
