MAKEUP | MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Nude Creme Lipsticks

Slowly getting back on the glossy lip train and whenever I see a new product from MAKE UP FOR EVER I am rarely disappointed! Now that it's summer, I am all about glowy skin and nude lips that make me look sexy AF now that I am blonde so when I saw the new Artist Nude Creme Lipsticks where I was bound to find my "ideal nude", I legit could not WAIT to try these out for myself! Coming in 12 shades, I am already feeling the twinges of my Plexigloss rampage from 2015 when I bought four more on top of the four press samples I already had! I just loved those things and now I know I will be picking up at least one more shade of these liquid lipsticks!

PR samples

These promise intense and long-lasting colour payoff with a creamy, satin finish. I found all of these claims to be true, BUT there were a few little (forgiveable) snags along the way. Firstly, the doe foot applicator is very skinny and pointy so I found it really easy to apply the product to my pointy cupid's bow.

The formula also made application easy as it's definitely smooth, but leans towards to thick side. I would say that at this point in my makeup life, I am totally fine with being "aware" that I am wearing lipstick. The formula smells like makeup and is one-swipe application for me without having to dip back in for more, but it is one of those formulas I wouldn't recommend for someone who likes a low maintenance lip or the "feeling" of makeup.

I received the shades #10 Natural* (dark, cool plum wine) and #1 Uncovered* (very light, warm, peachy beige) and while I was expecting #10 to be a true nude on me, it was very vampy and a bit scary to wear in the summer. I stuck to it all day at work, but I felt like I needed a strong smoky eye to balance it out. This is obviously a nude on a darker skin tone, but I selected this shade based on the shade name which wasn't quite what I was expecting!

So with #1, I felt super sexy wearing it. There is something like a glossy nude lip and bronze-themed makeup that gives off such an appealing glow. I feel so pretty when I wear this that I haven't stopped since Tuesday! I adore this shade so much and will be getting more shades around this colour probably at the next Sephora sale!

Final verdict: While the initial shine of the formula does wear off over a few hours, the colour does stay on the lips for the entire work day (8-10 hours) though by the end of the day, my lips do look dry. The darker vampy shade did feather on me so I highly recommend a lipliner for this particular shade and like a lot of darker lip shades, I had to be really good about checking my teeth to make sure the product hadn't transferred. These lipsticks are not transfer-proof at all and the first few sips of my coffee cup did not look pretty, BUT I never felt like I had to reapply my colour at all! I really don't think this is a formula for everyone, but I do enjoy a good opaque nude lipstick of which I don't have a lot of options (I know, I am just as surprised!) and will happily buy more because I felt like they performed well and I like the slightly different formula that's not sticky like MAC Lip Glass, but not smooth .
