I think I am a bit jaded when it comes to skincare and now that I am more familiar with ingredients, there are a lot of hyped up products that I don't buy because a lot of products contain just filler product. When I see a luxury product or a $500 moisturizer riddled with dimethicone and preservatives in higher concentration than the featured ingredient, I have some serious doubts. I also tend to avoid "Hollywood brands", BUT if the price is right and I think the experience might be worth it, I will give it a shot. I also figure it might help some of you in your decisions as I humbly volunteer as tribute to test out the new GLAMGLOW COOLSHEET No Drip Hydrating Sheet Mask!
This is a hydrogel mask focused on hydration without the mess of regular sheet masks. The COOLSHEET is cool to the touch making it especially nice to use in the summer! What makes this mask interesting is the fact that there is no essence and to this day I still haven't quite figured out how hydration can still happen because the mask feels so dry! In just 15 minutes, ingredients like arctic bilberry and glycerin act to seal in moisture like a helmet! There is even lactic acid for light chemical exfoliation to reveal a genuine glow! I honestly was more impressed with the ingredients than I thought I would be for such a trendy and happening sheet mask!
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Gelatin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Trehalose, Tartaric Acid, Lactic Acid (AHA), Allantoin (Anti-inflammatory), Ethylhexylglycerin, Triethylhexanoin, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Cellulose Gum, Aluminum Hydroxide, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyvinyl Alcohol (what makes the mask able to peel off), 1,2-Hexanediol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
Not only is this sheet mask pink, fun and has STARS all over it, its smooth felt-like texture on the front allows you to rub this mask over all the curves of your face. This is thicker texture because of the hydrogel underneath so there will be some areas especially around the chin that will stick up. I often have issues with my chin area, but it was particularly bad with this mask as the mask refused to stay put.
Mask Summary:
Price: $19 CDN
Scent: None
Duration: 15 minutes
Thickness: Thick like hydrogel with felt on top
Mask Fit: Chin kept popping up
Tackiness: None
Hydration: Surprisingly effective!
Final verdict: The only other sheet mask I have tried that is similar is the AmorePacific Moisture Bound Intensive Serum Mask that I reviewed in my #100DaysofSheetMasks Challenge. They feel quite similar in terms of experience and results, but the main difference is the addition of a serum in the AmorePacific mask. The other difference is that the AmorePacific mask has alcohol in the essence while the COOLSHEET is alcohol-free. At first I thought the alcohol was necessary to give that instantly cooling sensation, but now that I have experienced the same thing with the COOLSHEET, I do wish that AmorePacific would do their mask without the alcohol as it is the second ingredient. The only thing I would like GLAMGLOW to improve on is the fit as I think TWO separate parts for the top and bottom of the face would make the mask fit more pleasant. Other than that, I really had quite a fun time with this mask!
