I am rediscovering glosses again as I find that glossy lips tend to go better with the summer "bronzed goddess look" and recently came across the new Revlon Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polishes which promise one swipe, high shine, ultra pigmented colour that also feels luxuriously smooth to apply! Yes, I'm sure we have heard or seen something like this before over the years, but I would like to think that technology now has allowed for better formulas so let's see how these guys performed!

With 12 shades in total, these lip glosses are indeed high shine with a doe foot applicator with a reservoir tip to hold extra product. I have to say that when it comes to being able to say "one swipe application", it has definitely comes down to either a highly pigmented formula or this style of applicator. In the case of these lip polishes, I feel like it's a bit of both because if I wanted the super lacquered, plumped lip look, I needed to layer more than what was in the reservoir, but I still got decent coverage without having to "double dip".
I was sent the shades: So Shady*, Berry Blissed* and Act Naturel* and while So Shady was So Not My Shade, the other two were!
Au Naturel looked really peachy in the tube and even in the swatch, but for some reason once it was on my lips, it seemed to look more neutral against my skin colour so will be wearing this shade this summer!
Berry Blissed is my FAVOURITE of the three and I will be heading to London Drugs to do some swatching to see if there are other berry-toned shades I need to have!
There is something about the formula of vampy shades that a lot of brands struggle with and though So Shady was not the patchiest vampy formula I have encountered, it was the trickiest to apply smoothly and I would feel safest having a lipstick underneath with this layered on top to ensure colour uniformity.
Final Verdict: In terms of having my lips be coated in just one swipe? Yes, the formula DID do that, but to get that fully lacquered look, I needed two swipes to be sure! The formula for these guys reminded me a little of bit of MAC's Lipglass with regards to the sticky factor, but felt a touch smoother. The high shine impact didn't last all day and started to fade about 2 hours after application which is not surprising, but the colour lasted for another couple of hours until I had lunch in the late afternoon. The scent was pleasant as it was a blend of mango and vanilla and actually kept my lips feeling comfortable even after the gloss wore off as the formula also contains vitamin E, shea butter and aloe leaf extract.
Drugstore products aren't cheap anymore so while I wouldn't rush out to get the whole collection, having a bright and neutral shade of these lip polishes seems fairly reasonable and though I was gifted these three to try, I look forward to owning a few more!
You can find the Revlon Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polishes at mass drugstores across Canada.
