SHEET MASKS | New Avon Anew Sheet Masks That Brighten, Calm and Smooth!

It has been two years since Avon launched a sheet mask and now that we are well into the sheet mask craze, I am excited to say that in addition to the body sheet masks I reviewed last month, there are now three more yummy-looking sheet masks to try that focus on calming, smoothing and brightening the skin - three things that I cannot say no to!

First up is the Get on the Bright Side Brightening Sheet Mask* which contains grapefruit and vitamin C to moisturize and leave you with brighter and more radiant-looking skin!

Next is the Smooth Out Life's Little Wrinkles Sheet Mask* with resveratrol (found in red wine) and chia seed extract, a rich source of fatty acids. This is another instant moisturizing mask that helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles (without any dimethicone or cyclopentasiloxane).

Finally, we have the Put Your Cool Face On Calming Sheet Mask* with cucumber and aloe vera which is one of those classic cucumber masks that are intended to calm red or angry skin. I found the scent of this mask to be VERY strong and artificial.

The actual sheet mask was something I was not expecting! It was a little strange, but it kind of worked because the jaw portion felt really fitted and was almost a separate piece so I could really pull the sheet mask back to my ear and it stayed! There is also a little tab at the top so that you can easily separate the mask from the plastic backing. I have tried a few sheet masks that do this and I haven't found it to be all that helpful in the application process.

I thought there would be more of a difference between the masks, but as I was writing down my observations, I noticed I was saying the same things over and over again. While the masks had zero tackiness, I did not feel like my skin was hydrated. Refreshed, but not hydrated and with all three, I needed to use my regular moisturizer.

For all of the masks, the featured ingredients are in the first half of the ingredients list which is good, but all of them also contain a antimicrobial preservative called imidazolidinyl urea which is a known formaldehyde releaser. Though the formaldehyde released is not a large enough concentration to cause known harm, it can sometimes result in skin irritation. I am a bit sad that this preservative is being used as there are so many sheet masks that do not use it including the previous Anew sheet masks I have reviewed.

Final verdict: I wanted to like these masks and though the packaging and actual sheet mask were good, the ingredients and the way my skin felt after using the masks could have been better. I have literally tried hundreds of sheet masks in the last two years and these ones need to be stepped up and be similar in quality to the previous Anew sheet masks!
