MAKEUP | Physician's Formula Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipsticks with Lip Swatches

As much as I have always loved lipgloss, I have found that my preference for lip products has shifted to what is the most longwearing which are often more matte finishes or liquid lipsticks mainly because I don't feel like re-applying at work. I've become sort of a one-stop-shop when it comes to makeup so I pretty much make the effort once in the morning and don't touch my face again until I'm home removing my makeup. When it comes to liquid lipsticks, we are all want the same things: colour payoff, longevity and comfort - three things that the Physician's Formula Healthy Lip Liquid Lipsticks promise! So, how did they do?

Coming in 13 shades, this lightweight mousse cream formula contains avocado oil to hydrate and hyaluronic acid to enhance and smooth lips with every use. These lipsticks also have incredible colour payoff and super smooth application all in one stroke so no double dipping though I felt that right at the end, I was tempted to stick my wand back in to get more product, but resisted!

They application is smooth, the formula does feel heavier on my lips than other liquid lipsticks I have tried in this category like the ones from SUVA and Huda Beauty so while I wouldn't say my lips felt dry, I can't say they felt hydrated either. The initially shiny formula does dry down to a matte finish, but there is still a bit of transfer when eating or drinking, but if you don't eat anything incredible greasy, the colour should for the most part be on the lips for most of the day.

The doe foot applicator is flexible with a slight curve to "cup" the poutiness of the lip and I had no trouble being precise around my cupid's bow even with the more dramatic shades.

Final verdict: I wore these the whole work day which was about 10 hours from application to removal and by midday, I definitely felt like my lips were looking a bit cracked. In terms of the feel of the formula, I was very conscious of the fact that I was wearing a liquid lipstick as I had that "helmet" feeling on my lips. There was also some staining from the pink to the red shades lasting to the next day even when using an oil makeup remover and lip scrub. Generally, these are decent liquid lipsticks, but not my favourite. The shades are beautiful and I can't complain about pigmentation, but there are some small things that could be improved upon that make me reach for other brands.
