NAILS | Mattify Me with Flakie #CBBxManiMonday

I slept like a zombie last night so forgive me if this post is a bit short! I had waking dreams non-stop and I kept thinking it was time to get up even though I had the day off so by the time my alarm went off at 8am, I was in no mood to get anything done. I have been mildly productive today in terms of getting some groceries and small house clean up done. I also took some time to call he customer service line for a really old Mutual Fund account that my parents had set up for me while I was in high school as I had obviously forgotten the password. Now, I'm looking forward to an afternoon nap which I see as SUCH a luxury so I will take full advantage of it when I can!

Born Pretty had asked me to choose a couple of things over the summer to review which arrived only in the Fall since shipping from China plus the complications of COVID have made for some long waits. In addition to the flakie polish you see, I was also running a bit low on striping tape especially in wider widths. While you can certainly use striping tape on its own for nail art, I decided to use this blue tape as a way to get a clean edge to my manicure. I stopped using scotch tape because I've had a few situations where the tape didn't peel off nicely and left bits behind.

Make sure you press down firmly to seal off all the areas where polish could "leak" underneath the tape especially if you have very curved nails like mine where I really have to press hard along the edges of the tape.

I first applied two coats of OPI Drama at La Scala* and waited for it to completely dry before sticking on the tape. Then I applied the Born Pretty flakie polish which was a green shade called "Forest Princess" and topped it off with a shiny top coat to show off the iridescence of the flakie.

Then I realized that I would prefer the flakie to look matte as it seemed more interesting so I applied the CND Vinylux Matte Top Coat which looked better to me in the end.
