When it comes to my skincare routine, I am very much a serum girl. That is the step I focus on and generally spend the most money on as that is where ingredients are most concentrated. Without a serum in your routine, you will never get the targeted results you want especially when you get older. As a result, I constantly swap out my moisturizers depending on what sheet mask I have used that night or how my skin is feeling first thing in the morning. It is rare that I stick with the same day/night moisturizer unless I am reviewing something so when I opened up these jars of day and night moisturizer from Antipodes to try, I expected to just say "Oh, these are nice" and then move on to something else once I got bored or had something new land on my desk. What ended up happening was a true love affair where I would hungrily look at these two products and apply them slowly and methodically "American Psycho" style. The fact that I have not talked about a moisturizer on Cosmetic Proof for one year and have not given a dedicated review to a singular moisturizer in THREE years speaks volumes to just how much I have been enjoying both these creams!
As this is the first time I am featuring New Zealand brand Antipodes, let's share a bit of background information! Termed a "Scientific Green Beauty Company", founder and CEO Elizabeth Barbalich has ensured that Antipodes products are made in New Zealand, with 100% plant-based sustainable ingredients (often from New Zealand) and most importantly, results driven with robust scientific testing. The products are also certified both vegan and vegetarian. While the green beauty aspect of the branding will be nice for some, you all know how I feel about this terminology so while initially this marketing jargon turned me off, I decided to focus on the ingredients and the products themselves which have been fantastic!
Baptise H20 Ultra Hydrating Water Gel*
Look at that texture! This is a truly weightless, gel moisturizer and though I know we have heard this before, this moisturizer is truly one of the best I have ever used. With plant-based hyaluronic acid (HA usually comes from bacteria), kakadu plum extract (antioxidants) and New Zealand sourced manuka honey, this is intensely moisturizing and almost feels like too much when you are initially massaging the product into the skin, but then this magical thing happens and my skin just sucks it right up leaving this silky finish that lasts all day long. Almost like there are silicones in the formula, but if you look below there are none! My skin looks plump, healthy and juicy after using this and while I only use this in the mornings, this can be used both day and night. I will probably do this once I run out of Culture!
The second thing I need to note and is probably the thing I love the most about Baptise is the scent! It is the glorious scent of rosewater and is something that makes me look forward to applying this. I enjoy the texture, the scent and the results so much that I cannot say enough good things about this moisturizer. The only negative I have is if you don't like floral scents, the rosewater scent is not subtle so in that case I would pass.

Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream*
They had me at "probiotics"! This soothing violet concoction smells like fresh roses and also has the juiciest texture that spreads smoothly across the skin. It leaves the skin with non-tacky finish which I love, but also incredibly moisturized. In addition to the texture and scent, what makes this night cream unique is its use of an innovative probiotic called Kalibiome AGE Probiotic, a good bacteria that has been shown to be as effective as EGF in promoting skin repair and increasing overall skin thickness meaning plumper and younger looking skin! Skin thickness is not something a lot of brands focus on and when you think about it, having a thicker skin is protective and shields you against aging and the environmental stressors!

Final verdict: I look forward to using these moisturizers every day for their scent, texture and results and feel that for pricing and the plant-based ingredients included these are the whole package in terms of a perfect skincare experience!
