The Caliray Glazed and Infused Plumping Lip Glosses were the FIRST lip glosses/lipsticks I had purchased in over two years and were one of the few makeup items in my Sephora orders last year. I was in the market for something easy and comfortable to wear at home and I had seen many positive reviews about them online.
Though the product description says "plumping", this isn't one of those stinging lip plumping products! Far from it! This formula glides across the lips like an oil, is non-sticky and hydrates like a lip balm while making your lips appear soft and cushion-like with shine. In terms of the skincare aspects of the ingredients, there is prickly pear extract which binds to water molecules giving immediate fullness and avocado oil, green coffee seed extract and daisy extract to keep lips firm and bouncy.
The plumping aspect comes from the Maxi-Lip biomimetic peptides which are natural peptides that stimulate collagen and glucosaminoglycan synthesis, specifically the glucosaminoglycan and our skincare friend hyaluronic acid! With long-term use, lips will eventually appear more plump!
The product comes in a very compact bioplastic tube which is housed in a 100% post-consumer recycled box. The applicator is angled which I always appreciate as opposed to a flat opening.
I picked up the shades "Free Palomas", a pale nude pink, and "Orchid Ranch", a soft violet mauve". On my hand, these shades look distinctly different, but on my bare lips (see below), they kind of look the same...I probably could have just gotten one of these and been happy.
