SHEET MASK | Acure Seriously Soothing, Incredibly Clear and Brilliantly Brightening Sheet Masks

I used to do Earth Month on the blog and feature "natural and organic" beauty brands, but I think over the years, we have all come to realize natural doesn't necessarily mean better and that many brands that aren't necessarily marketed as organic do try their best to uphold pillars of sustainability and caring for the environment. Acure has long been one of those brands that has made plant-based ingredients an affordable option and though I have not tried much from the brand, it tends to catch my eye whenever I am shopping with their attractive and Instagrammable packaging and of course the products themselves! I think back in 2018 or 2019, I picked up a bunch of sheet masks from Well.ca to use in a #CBBGetsSheetFaced challenge and these Acure sheet masks were among my spoils so yes, these masks are a couple of years old, but when it comes to sheet masks, I never worry about actives since it's really more about hydration and moisture.

 
Seriously Soothing

What makes this mask special? The main feature is that it is made of biocellulose from fermented coconut which in it of itself is incredibly hydrating! Biocellulose masks are gentle enough to be used on even the most sensitive of skin and originates from dressings in Taiwan for burn victims. This mask also features hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and plant extracts like argan and geranium oil.

I have had these masks for awhile and from the start, the packaging did not feel like it was full of essence so I was a bit scared that all of the masks would not have enough "juice" in them, but the biocellulose ones seemed adequate and when I saw one video review of the Acure biocellulose masks, it didn't look like there was much essence either.

Essence Type: There was not much essence, but I don't recall this mask haven't much essence to begin with. 

Duration: 20 minutes

Thickness: Thin, but fairly standard for this price of biocellulose mask.

Mask Fit: Pretty good as biocellulose always hugs the contours of the face well.

Tackiness: Very light

Hydration: Good! Did not feel the need for moisturizer.

Other notes: Instructions should be more clear that TWO layers of liner need to be removed to reveal the "alien skin" mask in between as I watched reviews where people did not remove the second layer.

Incredibly Clear

What makes this mask special? This mask has BHA in the form of willowbark extract which is rare in sheet masks as well as brightening licorice root and soothing marshmallow and cucumber extract. Generally, the BHA in sheet masks will not be as strong as a salicylic acid serum/treatment as you do not want them degrading the sheet mask!

Thickness: Standard for charcoal material masks

Mask Fit: Pretty good!

Tackiness: Very light

Hydration: Good! Did not feel the need for moisturizer.

Brilliantly Brightening

Final verdict: All three masks were decent and I liked the Incredibly Clear mask for its addition of BHA. I don't necessarily think these masks are better than what I have tried previously and when it comes to biocellulose, it is hard to beat the Taiwanese/Korean brands. Acure isn't the easiest brand for me to find either so while these masks were perfectly pleasant, I probably will not seek them out again.
