When it comes to bees, I think we can all agree that it is fantastic to see honey and propolis have such a presence in our beauty products and if I could have my own bees to take care, I think I would because these little critters are amazing! I have used propolis products in skincare and only once in haircare, in the form of the Gisou thermal spray, so using it in a full haircare routine was something new to me. I knew propolis was wonderful for the skin, but what about the hair?

Avon's Propolithera Damage Remedy collection uses a blend of royal jelly, gold, honey and propolis extract to bring life back to damaged hair and is sulfate and paraben-free. Royal jelly locks in shine and restores then natural lustre in hair, honey helps to restore moisture and propolis contain antioxidants, amino acids and vitamins to restore weak and brittle hair.

Elastine Propolithera Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

Right away, you will notice that the shampoo and conditioner come in hefty honeycomb-shaped bottles with PUMPS! I love a good sized pump although they do take up a lot of room in the shower so each bottle has to get a respective corner.

Elastine Propolithera Damage Repair Shampoo

It is hard to tell from the photo, but the shampoo had a bit of a shimmer to it with both the shampoo and conditioner having a fairly strong honey fragrance. I like it, but take note that it is quite pungent.

The shampoo lathered well and cleaned up any buildup on my scalp from dry shampoo that I had used over the two days prior to washing. I also found that this shampoo gave decent volume at the roots even though the focus of this shampoo is damage repair. Note that there is dimethicone in the ingredients list.

The conditioner has a bonus of hydrolyzed collagen which encourages thicker hair growth as well as a healthier scalp. There is also shea butter making it a fairly hydrating conditioner so I only use a pump for the mid-lengths to ends of my hair.

Elastine Propolithera Damage Repair Hair Mask

This hair mask is QUITE hydrating and when I used it after the conditioner, I found it to be a bit too intense so instead, I use it in place of the conditioner once/week. It takes about 3-5 minutes to do its thing, so I apply it right after I have rinsed off the shampoo and then do my second facial cleanse and body wash in this time. My hair is SO SO SOFT whenever I use this and after blowdrying, it feels lightweight and feather-like. I have a feeling that because this hair mask has an ingredient called amodimethicone, that's why my hair feels so unbelievably healthy afterwards. I have discussed the benefits of amodimethicone before and it is a wonderful haircare ingredient that manages frizz and does not weigh hair down. It actually seeks out damaged portions of hair and protects them until the coating wears off in a few washes. This protection also acts as a detangler and I am more easily able to comb through my hair with the hair mask versus the conditioner.

Final verdict: Even though the bottles are big, I do like the pump and packaging. Out of the trio, my vote is for the shampoo and hair mask for sure!
