As many of you have seen on my Instagram stories, I was diagnosed with shingles on Wednesday and as it is all along my trigeminal nerve on my face, the only skincare I have used is Avene Thermal Spray since half of my face is covered in blisters. I think I will do a separate post on my shingles journey as I have been keeping a journal for my own morbid scientific purposes. For today's #SheetMaskSunday, I have had to dive into the archives as I have not tried any sheet masks for the last two weeks due to a combination of having my showers so late at night that the 20 minutes for a sheet mask was too long and of course being sick.
Unfortunately, I think Add On Beauty is no longer around, but I picked up these masks a few years back at Shoppers Drug Mart as there aren't many brands that make dry sheet masks. At the time there was just the Charlotte Tilbury and Nannette de Gaspe ones and even now I think those are still the most well-known. What I found interesting about these masks was that there were four different variations which was something the other brands did not have!
All four masks fit the same way and were used 5x even though the packaging said up to 4x. The fifth time was probably stretching it, but there was still enough "dry essence" to make a difference. All of the masks come in a resealable pouch and use something termed "V Technology" which is a reference to the printed side of the mask containing all of the active ingredients. For more information on how dry sheet masks work check out my review of the Charlotte Tilbury Sheet Mask. It basically works like a nicotine patch with actives printed on a felt-like material in a solid medium at room temperature. It's a Canadian technology that is VERY cool!
Hydra Protect
What makes this mask special? The Hydra Protect sheet mask has a shea butter base that liquifies against the heat of the skin and contains a number of plant oils like cotton seed oil, macadamia seed oil and sunflower seed oil to bring some intense hydration to the skin. It also has hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and squalene.
I thought it was very cute that each mask with the exception of Vegan Nutrition, were coloured on the underside. This is the solidified shea butter that I guess they decided to tint blue!

Final verdict: I wish this brand was still around because it was the most affordable dry sheet mask I could find! All of the other ones I am aware of are more than $25! I thought the results were solid and overall my skin felt and looked great after using them so I am sad these are no more!
Has anyone found any other brand of dry sheet mask out there I should try?
