I just had the dreaded Inventory and thankfully the store was closed and we could just focus on that for 6 hours, but it is such a tiring activity! Then today, I got my Covid shot which has knocked me out with extreme fatigue since noon. I almost didn't get the shot this year (I just got the flu one), but seeing as how I have caught Covid at work every year (even multiple times in one year) since the mask mandates were lifted, I figured I would get it just to minimize the possibility of it getting any more serious!

I always have a secret blog post goal of 10 posts/month and I didn't realize that I wasn't even close to that amount this month! I guess with work in Paris and then getting ready for the trip, my mind really was elsewhere!

I am amazed I got 13 blog posts out last month because I have been so f'ing busy (in both good and not so good ways) at work that I am literally scared for my health. My brain and my heart are constantly racing with things that need to be done and of course things crop up during the day that need to be dealt with as well. Needless to say, it has been a challenging week and I am doing my best to stay mentally sound. We are short-staffed and everyone is feeling a little low and for an introvert like myself who needs her batteries recharged, it's hard to be a cheerleader so I have honestly been keeping to myself and saving my energy for clients vs. employees. Now, I actually had these nails done for last week, but couldn't bring myself to even edit the photos for all of 5 minutes. That's how unmotivated I was to do anything other than survive my day job which I will say, I despise doing. I hate having my happiness dictated by my job and I am actively trying to fill my personal life with things that add some distance to my work life. Let's just say it's all still a work in progress!

I felt like October was the longest month ever. I feel like a lot happened last month. I finally got my hair done which is always a bit of a production as I do my balayage once a year with my favourite Civello stylist, but he is a 45 minute drive from where I live so not exactly the closest. It's also what I call a very "active" drive meaning that there is no highway involved and I am forced to go through downtown where there is currently no shortage of construction and detours. I generally don't enjoy driving so I always have to mentally prepare for our 4 hour sessions knowing that after sitting in a car for an hour, I will be sitting again.

I haven't been good about doing "Five on Friday" posts and maybe it's time to start again because I have allowed myself to let everything go since Hugo died almost 2 months ago. These last few days, things have started to feel fresh again and it has brought me back to those moments of aching sadness where I just cannot believe he is gone. Harper is lonely now, it is evident in the change in her behaviour so we have started poking around local shelters to see if there might be a suitable cat buddy for her. Preferably a younger male kitty who can keep her on her toes as she likes to play and chase. The search is something that makes me feel sad, but at the same time I feel like having a second cat in the house will help us move forward with our grief.

Traditionally for April we would fill the month with Easter-themed manicures, but I realized that Easter Monday is the first Monday of the month which means that doing bunny and egg manicure might not be completely appropriate. So, I decided to at least do this one Easter manicure for today and then the rest of the month will just be fun Spring stuff!

We are getting down to the last of our summer manicures and I have to say that although I am still SHOCKED at how it felt like April one moment and now it's almost 5 months later, I am ready for Fall. I don't know if that's because I just want to see how the rest of 2020 plays out or if I'm just ready for a change. We can all agree that this year has felt like both the longest and shortest year of our lives and I have taken the approach of trying not to take things TOO seriously and just doing what makes me happy. I had said on IG Stories yesterday that I felt a bit grumpy and you know what seemed to cure that? Steaming the floors. There is something so satisfying about walking on freshly cleaned and steamed floors that I immediately felt productive and forgot all about being a grouch!

NAILS | Dotted Abstract Nail Art #CBBxManiMonday

Here we are on the last day of September and though I am just shocked at how quickly this month has passed, I am really excited for October because...HALLOWEEN! I am excited for the manicure and the crazy sheet masks I have planned! Today's #CBBxManiMonday is about the clash of two brights once again - blue and pink! As you can tell, I have REALLY been into abstract nail art as of late so I wanted to give it one more go before we start doing the creepy, crawly manicures!
