Review–The Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules

Hello!

During the last 3 for $30 sale at The Body Shop, I decided to try the Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules ($28) from the Vitamin C line. It is probably one of the pricier lines at The Body Shop so the 3 for $30 promotion is the perfect time to try something for $10 that normally retails at $28!

The key ingredient in these capsules is of course ascorbic acid or vitamin C, but there is also community trade Brazil nut oil to moisturize and soften the skin. One of the many functions of vitamin C is that it acts as an antioxidant against oxidative stress that results in cellular damage. This product is intended for dull skin and as the name states, is meant to bring radiance and lustre back into the skin.

Packaging: In each glass jar, there are 28 capsules ($1/capsule at regular price!) because our skin renews itself every 28 days by sloughing off old, dead skin cells to be replaced with new ones. I love twisting capsule “tails” to get at the goods!

Formula: The capsule contents contains a serum-like substance that when applied to the face feels almost like a makeup primer as it makes the surface of your skin feel smooth to the touch and not greasy. There is enough in each capsule for the face, but not really enough for the neck too, but I guess we don’t really care if the neck has radiance!

Scent: Like oranges!! Mmmmm!

Final Verdict: I honestly have not experienced a noticeable change in my skin’s lustre since I started using this product though the reviews on The Body Shop’s website say otherwise. In fact, even though I got this product more than a month ago, I am only now on my last 2 capsules because my skin could only handle the capsules every other day. When I was using them every day, I noticed that I was getting very red and blotchy within a few minutes of applying the serum. My suspicion is that the ascorbic acid was a bit too abrasive for every day use so if you have more sensitive skin, you may have the same experience. Once my two capsules are finished, I won’t be repurchasing this product because I just didn’t see a change in my skin at all.

Have the Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules worked for any of you?

  1. Oh wow, that product looks interesting! The capsule concept sounds cute and makes it intriguing to try! However, my skin is a bit sensitive so I probably won't go out and get it. Great review =) Your blog is so cute!

  3. I LOVE the vitamin C line - the microdermabrasion and the ski boost serum are two of my all time favourites! I have never tried the capsules though - but I'm sorry to hear they didn't work - I guess that saves me 28$ on trying them out though! Thanks for the review :)

    1. I'm sorry, I'm no skin expert and I only know dry skin best as that is my skin type, but I've heard wonderful things about Avene skin care that is supposedly good for those with combination skin.

    1. I had heared such wonderful things about this product that I figured it could work for me too so I was sad when it didn't :( I'm happy that it worked for your skin though!

I have wanted to try the Blue Corn mask so I might pick it up when I'm through my other stuff.

  10. I did also try the same vitamin C capsules from the Body Shop and did not notice any results.
The product that did work for me and my usual buy is Neostrata 10% vitamin C capsules.
You can feel them working and the next morning your skin looks and feels much smoother.
Also found the Neostrata 10% vitamin C helps fade blemish marks.
Not the cheapest product, but a must buy for me.

Shoppers often has it on sale for 20% off.
