Hello and happy first official day of Summer! It’s actually sunny in VanCity today so it really does feel like summer!
Psst…today I’m going to share a little secret with you all…it was my first time last night…stamping with Konad! I’d obviously heard of and seen some wonderful sets of nails with amazing designs, but had never thought to try it out myself. Nail Polish Canada was kind enough to send me the Basic Konad Nail Art Stamping Set to review and I have to admit, I was a little scared because I didn’t know whether I’d even be able to use a stamper!
The Basic Konad Nail Art Stamping Set comes with a stamper, scraper, mini bottle of white Konad polish and an m36 plate.
For my first Konad manicure, I started off with two coats of OPI – A Roll in the Hague which is a beautiful dark orange creme and goes on a bit darker than how it appears in the bottle.
I followed with the special white Konad polish and the flower from the middle of plate m36. I decided to add rhinestones in the center for some extra *pop*.
I had to practice a couple of times and even with those practice runs, my flowers still didn’t fully transfer at the edges. As for ease of use, let me tell you, at the beginning while I was still having trouble getting all of the pattern to transfer to the stamp, my fiance was HAPPILY stamping away! He actually said,”Jayne, this is so easy, I don’t get why you’re having trouble!” For a guy who’s a computer scientist and runs away at the smell of polish, HE found this Konad kit super easy to use!
I think this is a great starter kit if you’re just venturing into the world of Konading. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I think flowers are harder to stamp than French tips or whole nail patterns so I think I’m going to try again with different patterns and see how that goes. As we speak, I’m going to pick up one of the special Konad polishes in black from Nail Polish Canada to see how the two colours compare. I think this is just the beginning of nail art stamping for me!
If you haven’t shopped with Nail Polish Canda before, they are a fantastic site for new collections and coveted rare nail polish brands like a-england, Orly, SpaRitual, Nubar, Nfu Oh as well as luxury nail polish brands like Butter London and Deborah Lippmann. They’re based right here in Vancouver so you can imagine my delight when I realized they carried all the brands that I’ve been ordering from the States! Shipping time and communication is amazing, the minimum for free shipping is only $29 and did I mention that there is a nail polish rewards program too? I honestly cannot say more wonderful things about this company! Oh wait, yes I can! They are also running a contest to win Konad Prize Pack ($51) which includes:
1 x Konad Basic Kit
2 x Choice of any image plates
2 x Choice of any special polishes
If you haven’t entered already, enter here. A winner will be chosen July 30th.
Have a great day everyone!
Good review. I've always thought about buying some conad stuff but I'm not patient enough to sit there and try to transfer stamps. Lol
ReplyDeleteThank you! I know, I don't think I'd have the patience to do this all the time either.
DeleteWowza!!! I'm super impressed. I've always wanted to try this
ReplyDeleteSarah
Aww, thank you!
DeleteI love the patterns on that!! Gorgeous nails! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! LOL, I just chose the easier of all the flowers to transfer :-)
DeleteLooks lovely! I've never tried Konad, but have a mini set just like yours by Essence. I also find the pattern to be hard to stamp. I've pretty much given up on stamping altogether. It's far too time consuming!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great way to get a complicated design on your nails without much fuss, but I don't think I could do it all the time. I applaud those who do stamping for every mani!
DeleteOMG! Those nails look super cool! I've never tried stamping either so it's neat to see what you can do on your first attempt!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The first time was so scary! And then I didn't know if I should share the photos because I didn't want to give Konad a bad name!
DeleteOmg I'm jealous haha! I love this set sooo much, I have been watching nail tutorials featuring this for so long! Your nails look professionally done:)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you like my nails! You should totally enter the contest to win the set!
DeleteI actually haven't tried out the Konad plates either, as I'm usually a simple polish & go kind of girl. But some of the designs they have on those plates are awesome! I need to get my bf to help me stamp, haha :) Great review!
ReplyDeleteThank you! LOL, apparently I should have never doubted my fiance's stamping abilities! I generally like dotting tools and brushes for my nail art so stamping was definitely something new for me to try. It was even a little out of my comfort zone, but I'll stick with it and see what happens!
DeleteI've wanted to try stamping, I think your manicure turned out so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat your fiance said made me laugh, I hope you get the hang of it. (:
Thanks Christa! I'm glad you liked the mani! I was pretty impressed with his abilities I'll tell you that!
DeleteI got my first kit 10 years ago so I have years and years of practice and I still haven't perfected the art of transferring the image to my nails. It still smudges. I think the most addictive part of the Konad system is collecting the image plates. I have quite a lot and I want more! lol
ReplyDeleteYou have made me feel better! I see what you mean about collecting plates...I just ordered a Hello Kitty one...
DeleteI have always wanted to try stamping but fear I will be too much of a klutz. One day I will try it one day... :) Good job though!
ReplyDeleteI'm still super scared! When I stamp on my nails I keep saying in my head "This is the moment of truth!"
DeleteI purchased my first kit a few years ago in toronto near the pacific mall and I still remembered that it was hard for me to stamp it on my nail! lol but hopefully, I found the technic: once you stamp the plate, stamp it quick and not too hard on your nails :) btw, you should buy those plates on ebay because it is cheaper ! :) I found 10 plates for only 12$ ! I will email you the link:)
ReplyDeleteI was stamping too hard at first and it wasn't working at all! Eventually I got the hang of it, but I've got to try it again or I'm going to forget how to do it!
DeleteAww, thank you!! Nail art does require some patience and precision so I don't think it's for everyone, but I enjoy the swatches you do!
ReplyDeletewow they look great!! thanks for the review - i've tried stamping before and all those plates that konad has makes me want to buy a set or 2 but i was teeeerribble at it. couldn't transfer it properly.. maybe i need more practice or perhaps your fiance should post a how to video. hahaha
ReplyDeleteLOL, I will ask him and see what he thinks!
DeleteBeautiful! I like the Konad plates.
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a beautiful job of stamping!
DeleteYay! I'm glad you tried konad-ing! lmao! I thought it was so funny when you said your fiance was stamping away and said it was easy! haha how cool! Oh, I forgot how much the special Konad polishes are, but I found that the black and white Sally Hansen Insta-dri polishes work really well with stamping. I think they might be a nice cheaper alternative :D
ReplyDeleteI was so amazed that he could do it and I was still struggling! I ended up buying the special Konad polishes in black and white to try out. I think there were about $8, but I've seen the SH ones be just as good!
DeleteI have never seen anything like this! Really neat!
ReplyDeleteToo funny that your man helped you out on your nails!
The things they do for us.. Love it!

They'll do most things for us I find ;-) I'm glad you liked what I did! I think you get addicted to the collecting stamping plates...I just ordered like 50...
DeleteI have wanted to try the Konad system for a while, but I am so lazy as it is with painting my nails, I'm afraid it would be a waste of money! These are so pretty and tempting though!!!

I know, stamping is just that extra bit of work that makes it seem like too much. The results can be worth it though!
Deleteoh my gosh, these look so neat! Stamping is probably the right call for me since I am sooooo shaky/uncoordinated with my hand when it comes to nail art!
ReplyDeleteStamping just makes everything look so professional! I can't wait to do more!
DeleteYour nails always look fab!! This looks like a great kit though at the rate I destroy my manicures I think it would be just disappointing after I ruined my effort lol
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! Aww, I know I only stamped my left hand for the review because I knew it wasn't worth the effort for my right hand which would get destroyed in 24 hours!
DeleteI love that your fiancé was stamping too! So funny! Your nails look great for a first time stamper. It's definitely not as easy as it looks! I love stamping, it's a great way to extend a mani too if you use a full nail design
ReplyDeleteIt is not easy! It looks like it would be, but no! It's a bit of a challenge to get the stamp to transfer fully, but I've picked up some other Konad polishes so we'll see how those go. I totally agree that it's a great way to make your manicure last longer. I have the stamping plate with just tips as well, so that might work just for tip wear.
