April Empties

Not a bad month for empties and again it has taken me awhile to post!

1. Shu Uemura Full Shimmer Illuminating Shampoo (75mL)Thumbs down

Acquired November 2012

I didn’t really notice too much of a difference in my hair and for a shampoo that is pretty pricey, I don’t see myself buying the full size version of this. This is for color-treated hair so maybe I would have seen more of a difference if I’d had color-treated hair.

2. Bioderma Sensibio Micelle Solution (100mL)Thumbs up

Acquired May 2012

This is great stuff and will continue to be a favourite of mine for years to come! It feels and looks like water, but amazingly removes every trace of makeup and dirt! It doesn’t leave a residue on your skin just the feeling of freshness. Highly recommended!

3. Almay Intense i-color Mascara (11.2mL)Thinking smile

Acquired August 2011

I actually did like this mascara when I first started using it, but it is no different than what I am currently using which is why I gave it a “maybe”.

4. Lancome Doll Lashes Mascara (6.5mL)Thumbs up

Acquired October 2011

This was a favourite of mine back in November of 2011 when I first started Cosmetic Proof and I used it religiously for the volume and achieving those big doll-like eyes.

5. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara (3mL)Thumbs down

Acquired November 2011

I didn’t notice any difference in my lashes with this mascara so this is a pass for me.

6. Benefit Porefessional (7.5mL)Thinking smile

I think this is a great primer for those who have large pores or oiler skin, but seeing as how my skin is on the dry side, I didn’t see the benefit of having this on my face. It just isn’t a product that I would use because of my skin type, but it DID give my skin a smooth finish.

7. Essence Sheet Mask (1 sheet)Thumbs up

Acquired  December 2012

I got this in a package from Nadine and like all Japanese sheet masks, it was incredibly hydrating and refreshing. I would love to get more, but are sadly unavailable here.

8. Dermal Green Tea Collagen Essence Mask (1 sheet)Thumbs up

Acquired February 2013

I picked this up for $0.99 out of pure curiosity from an Asian supermarket and it was surprisingly nice! Another mask that left my skin extremely hydrated and smelled just like green tea.

9. My Beauty Diary Dark Circles Intensive Care Eye Mask (1 sheet)Thinking smile

Acquired April 2013

As cute as these are, nothing really gets rid of dark circles other than good ol’ sleep! They got rid of any puffiness I had and hydrated the area around my eyes, but truth be told, I just liked pretending I was some sort of masked superhero when I was using this.

10. Mary Kay Oil-Free Hydrating Gel (12g)Thumbs down

Acquired February 2009

That’s right, this was a 4 year old moisturizer! I didn’t like it when I first got it which led to me using it up only now. I’ve never been one to care about expiration dates unless things change colour or smell off. I didn’t like the moisturizer because even when I first got it, it never really absorbed into my skin. It sort of just sat right on the surface and flaked off…

11. Shu Uemura Skin Purifier (4mL)Thinking smile

Acquired January 2013

I give this a maybe because as much as I like oils to remove my makeup, I am still loving my Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel. I just didn’t love this enough to go out and buy the full size.

12. Lise Watier Age Control Supreme Eye Care (3mL)Thumbs up

Acquired October 2012

Oh man, I love this stuff! I have been looking for a thicker eye cream for night time and this is IT! It is anti-aging and has Labrador Tea extract in it which has a variety of uses including healing of skin. I have already purchased the full size!

13. Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream (1.5mL)Thumbs down

Acquired December 2012

I thought this would be more of a traditional eye cream, but it’s actually tinted and is more like makeup as it brightens the eye area and gives it a bit of shimmer. If you’re looking for a moisturizer/eye brightener, this is the product for you, but unfortunately I prefer to keep the two separate.

14. Original Purity Skin Care Raw Seeds Facial GeleeThumbs up

Acquired January 2013

Loved the smell, loved the cooling jelly-like consistency and was very enjoyable to use. My only hesitation with re-purchasing this is that I received this from a Natural Beauty Box and I am really hesitant about dealing with them after their behaviour over the last couple of months.

15. Caudalie Vinosource Serum S.O.S (10mL)Thinking smile

Acquired January 2013

I am iffy about this serum because I don’t like watery serums which is what this was. It would practically fall out of the tube and even though it certainly hydrated my skin, there are other serum consistencies that I enjoy more.

16. L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Face Cream (15mL)Thumbs up

Acquired  November 2012

My dry skin LOVED this at night and I will definitely purchase the full size once I am finished with my current skincare products.

17. Delizioso Skincare Watermelon & CoQ10 100% Natural Facial Polish (15mL)Thinking smile

Acquired January 2013

Wasn’t a fan of the smell, but loved how soft my skin felt after using this product. This is another product that I received in a Natural Beauty Box and because I don’t want to support this company anymore, I won’t be purchasing the full size.

18. & 19. Skinfood GoldKiwi SerumThumbs up

Acquired  December 2012

I was so sad that each of these packets was just a one time use because they are exactly what I love in a serum: thicker consistency, absorbs quickly and has a very light scent.

20. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub in Coconut Lime (156g)Thumbs up

Acquired March 2013

So good! I got this in the March BB5 and wasn’t intending on using it until my current scrub was done, but the consistency was perfectly gritty and smelled so summery that before I knew it, I had finished the whole pot!

21. Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Buffing Cleanser (150mL)Thumbs up

Acquired December 2012

This was a January favourite of mine and as I had mentioned smells like you’re cleansing with citrus-scented candy! Very gentle cleanser with a hint of grit and was what I would use in days that I wasn’t using a body scrub.

22. Julep The Best Pedi Creme Ever! (2mL)Thumbs up

Acquired 2012

I feel like I have talked about this enough because I keep getting samples of this with every order I place! The scent is great, my feet feel happy and I love using it!

23. Ahava Mineral Body Lotion (40mL)Thumbs up

Acquired December 2012

“Please sir, can I have some more?” This stuff is so amazing and I have to thank Glossybox for first introducing me to the body lotion! I’ve gone through a few sample sizes of this already and now I have a full size bottle. It’s mainly the scent that really sets this moisturizer apart and the added hydration is a bonus.

24. Aveda Hand Relief (10mL)Thumbs up

Acquired March 2012

I received this in the March Aveda Topbox and really enjoyed it. Slightly orange-scented and non-greasy, this is a great hand cream!

25. Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub (30mL)Thumbs down

Acquired May 2012

Don’t get me wrong, this did a great job of exfoliating, but I just wasn’t a fan of the scent. It smelled a little chemically to me at times…I am loving my L’Occitane Shea Hand Scrub so I doubt I’ll be purchasing this anytime soon.

26. Burst Organic Beauty Coconut and Vanilla Body Wash (30mL)Thumbs down

Acquired October 2012

This was actually not bad in terms of scent and actual product effectivity, but it was nothing spectacular.

27. Burst Organic Beauty Blueberry and Vanilla Rich Island Butter (30mL)Thumbs down

Acquired October 2012

I got this in a past Natural Beauty Box, but I hate the scent of fake blueberries. Getting through this tiny pot was sheer willpower!

28. J.R. Watkins Hand and Body Lotion in Lavender (29mL)Thumbs down

Acquired March 2012

I found the lotion quite watery which is something I really hate in a body moisturizer.

29. The Body Shop Hand Cleanse Gel in Sweet Lemon (60mL)Thumbs up

Acquired June 2012

Great scent and doesn’t leave a sticky residue on your hands! Satsuma and Pink Grapefruit are also fantastic!

30. “Late Bloomer” Fortune Cookie Soap (1 piece)Thumbs up

Acquired March 2013

This was so cute and fun to use in the shower! I totally want more now!

31. Lush Calacas Shower Jelly (Not pictured)

This isn’t pictured because it was my 5th and final pot for a free face mask and I was making a special trip to Lush so I had to give up the pot hence the lack of picture.

  1. I love the shu uemura cleansing oil, it removes eye makeup so well, this clarins cleansing gel you speak of, does it also remove waterproof mascara? I want to give it a try if it does, because the shu uemura one is way too expensive and I am almost 3/4 finished my bottle. :/

    2. I know, Shu Uemura is way too expensive to keep re-purchasing so the Clarins one has been a better option for me.

What a great empties post. I'm on a kick to finish everything I've already opened. It's tough, but I've gotten a couple of empties here and there. So yay for me. hahahahah

  3. That is a lot of mascara! I used to have three or four tubes at the same time, until I found Jordana Best Lash Extreme. There's no point in me trying anything else, I've found my HG mascara for life! ^^

  7. Your empties posts kind of make me envious! (I'm not sure why I want to run out of things and have to buy more) but I can never seem to finish anything! I have a foundation from about two years ago that's still more than half full. (I don't even think that's healthy..)
