Review | Bees Knees Bodyworks Grapefruit Lime Soda Sugar Scrub

I am always ecstatic to find beauty artisans right in my own backyard and I have to thank Gen from Onyx and Mick for introducing me to Tricia and her yummy line of bath and body delights Bee’s Knees Bodyworks! This delicious line of goodies comes from Chilliwack, BC about 2 hours from Vancouver and when I started browsing Tricia’s etsy store, I knew right away that I had to have the Grapefruit Lime Soda Smoothie Scrub!

Price: $11.50 CDN for 8oz with flat rate shipping

Ingredients: Purified Water, Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Emulsifying Wax NF, Macadamia Nut Oil, Glycerin, Avocado Oil, Stearic Acid, Silk Amino Acid, Vitamin E, Fragrance, Optiphen (a paraben free preservative).

Packaging: BPA Free plastic jar with an aluminum twist off lid.

Scent: Ginger and lime, supported with notes of lemon, lily, grapefruit and a minuscule amount of spice. It’s smells SO good believe me!

Formula: This is a cream-based soap with sugar whipped into it leaving your skin exfoliated, but moisturized. I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough grit to the scrub, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’d say the sugar crystals are about medium-sized and melt away as you rub this whipped goodness into your skin. You can see from the little pockets present in the soap that it is very light and really is “whipped” in texture.

Final Verdict: Sometimes I want to merge the soap and the scrub steps into one which is when this sugar whipped soap is the perfect option. I started using this as an alternative to Lush’s Rub Rub Rub, as I had run out, and even though it doesn’t lather quite as much as Rub Rub Rub, it has been a more than adequate alternative at about half the price! The smell is just mouth-watering and not fake or over-powering, the ingredients are all-natural and most of all leaves my skin feeling exfoliated and hydrated. I have actually already finished this 8oz tub as I was loving it so much and plan on stocking up on more!

Bees Knees Bodyworks is closed for now, but will re-open July 18th.
