I joke, I would never go into debt for makeup and it scares me to think that there are some people who do! The title just sounded so snappy that I couldn’t resist! I purchased the first set of items when there was a VIB Celebration Bag as a Gift with Purchase and ended up doing another purchase online shortly before my wedding as I was afraid I would run out of my favourite MUFE foundation! I am now waiting for VIB week so that I can do my last round of sinnage for 2013!
BeautyBlender Pro Double Blenders
I love the BeautyBlender and I have tried the knockoffs before to see if I really DID need to spend the money on them and so far I’ve discovered that…I DO. The way the sponge bounces back after cleaning combined with how beautifully it applies foundation and BB/CC/DD cream has me convinced. Not to say I’m not open to finding more inexpensive options, but for now the BeautyBlender is the one. The black ones I picked up are no different than the original pink. They’re just black.
I was planning on picking up just the Boscia BB Cream as I got a chance to try a sample over the summer and quite liked it, but when I saw this value pack for $54 it seemed ridiculous not to get it since buying the BB Cream alone would have been $46! I thought maybe the BB Cream in the set was a baby version, but no! It is a 50g bottle! The other products that are included are the Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil (50mL) and the Super Cool De-Puffing Eye Balm, which I had been wanting to try. My eyes feel SO MUCH better in the morning after applying any sort of coolness!
Philosophy Amazing Grace Rollerball
This is actually the scent I wore on my wedding day and I love it because it makes me feel like a grown-up. I feel feminine, cozy and even though it has musk in it, Amazing Grace still wears incredibly light on my skin. The top note is bergamot followed by muguet blossoms.
Hourglass Femme Nude Stylo in No. 4
My first Hourglass product! I need to see what the hype is all about because these babies aren’t cheap at $35 a pop! The packaging (see below) is of course luxurious in feel as the case is made of metal and the colour is creamy and perfectly pigmented. Wear time though is not amazing and I did have to touch up at the 2-3 hour mark.
Fresh Sugar Shine Lip Treatment
I was so excited to try this especially because I have loved every single Fresh product that I have come into contact with, but I was actually kind of disappointed with this product…for $22 the packaging felt very substantial, but the actual lip gloss wasn’t very impressive. It didn’t wear very well on me as the gloss essentially disappeared within the hour. I don’t know if that is supposed to happen since this “treatment” promotes softer, healthier-looking lips in the long term. I don’t know if I’m using this product incorrectly, but it certainly didn’t WOW me.
Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate
I own two other colours of the Korres Lip Butters and now that I have Pomegranate, my collection is complete. These are just the loveliest tinted lip balms as they are so creamy, comfortable to wear and provide just the right amount of colour. They also make your lips look lush!
Urban Decay Vintage 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Gunmetal (Permanently Out of Stock)
I picked this up for a crazy $7 and is a gorgeous sparkly grey. If you love the UD 24/7 pencils, you’ll end up with all of the colours in the end! Although, I’ve never actually purchased a full sized pencil at full price and would rather get the travel sets so I can have more colours .
Hourglass | Femme Nude Stylo in No.4
Surprisingly, this was a great little bag filled with some really amazing deluxe samples! There was also a L’Occitane hand cream that I have since started using which is why it is not featured in the photo. This bag was available to all VIBs with any purchase over $35. The Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Buxom lip gloss and Stila Lip Glaze made this bag well worth the $35 purchase!
More samples! Excited to try the Dior cleansing oil!
I love the books and the musical so getting this set was an absolute must for me! The fact that the middle green polish is called “Defying Gravity” made me want to buy this set that much more!
MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Finish Multi Use Powder Foundation in Neutral Ivory
This is my favourite foundation and I was very close to running out, so I freaked out and had to buy another one as a backup just in case as this was the foundation I wanted to wear for my wedding. Of course, I had nothing to worry about so now I'll be prepared when I finally run out!
Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box (Permanently Out of Stock)
This was on sale for $12…how could I say no?! The colours look amazing! I don’t know how often I’ll be using Peace and Honey, but the others look right up my alley!
Laura Mercier’s Flawless Classics Set (500 point Beauty Insider Gift)
Now, THIS is why I save up my points! What an awesome gift! As someone who has never tried or owned a Laura Mercier product, this is the PERFECT little sampler pack. The sample sizes are more like travel sizes and give a good range of the most popular products.
BAREMINERALS Complexion Sample Set in Original Medium Beige
Free with any online purchase over $25, this was another great little set as it included a mini kabuki brush, foundation and eye brightener. I have never actually tried bareMinerals so this will be another product I will be trying for the first time!
And of course more samples!
I can’t believe after all of this that my shopping cart is full once again! Christmas…I both love and hate you for your irresistible holiday beauty sets!
