shu uemura | pret-a-palette in Pink Hues Review, Swatches and Makeup Look

When it comes to eyes, shu uemura is the first company that comes into my mind as their famous eyelash curler is now a holy grail product for all eye types. The shu uemura summer collection is nothing short of colour, fun and play all done in the ever-luxurious shu manner and consists of: drawing pencils in 21 shades, 4 ready-to-wear palettes and petal lash mascara. Today’s blog post will feature the pret-a-palette in Pink Hues ($85 CDN) which literally translates into “ready-to-palette” and is one of four six coloured palettes.

The eyeshadow shades consist of: matte smokey dark purple, matte smokey dark bluish pink, pink (G135), pearl rosy pink, light pink (ME126) and soft beige (M813).

You will have to excuse the puffiness in my face as I just had a facial AND my eyebrows waxed an hour before!

I used all 6 colours in this palette and did my best to follow the pret-a-palette rules of DEFINE, SHADE and BRIGHTEN. The matte smokey purple turned out to be one of my favourite shadows as a smokey eye was inevitable with this shade in the pack!

Final Verdict: If you are wanting to treat yourself, these palettes are definitely the way to do it with their black-lacquered and sleek packaging, but I know that spending $85 on a palette can be hard to justify. I do consider shu uemura to be “up there” on the beauty ladder so owning a shu product is like owning a collector’s item.

The matte shades were my favourite as I found their application to be the most pigmented. I loved the look of the glittery pink shadow, but it was difficult to get a lot of pigmentation out of it. The consistency of the shadows is on the drier side so if you use your fingers, you will have to press a little bit harder to get the eyeshadow to stick. This drier consistency fared slightly better when using a brush which is what I used in the above look. The combination of colours in this palette is very pretty and I like that there are different eyeshadow textures that you can play with. I was afraid that purple would look terrible on me, but I think shu uemura knew what they were doing so I shouldn’t doubt their expertise!
