BATH & BODY | The Ultimate Pamper Night In with The Body Shop Spa of the World

It's getting to that time of the year, when my brain starts to feel like it's on fire with things to do, people to see and of course the holiday season of work. I work in luxury retail so not only are people buying, but they are hopefully buying a lot since Q3 is singlehandedly the biggest quarter of the fiscal year. I am on the management side of the equation so not only do I need to be in great mental and physical shape but I need to be there for my staff as well so going into work with a good head on my shoulders is important. I am often rushing in the mornings so I try to take extra time at night to make sure I take care of myself whether it'd be with a great meal or treating myself to some bath and body TLC. Like most women, I love body products and I have most recently been enjoying a number of Spa of the World products from The Body Shop that I hope will calm your minds, smooth your skin and just make you feel 100% better!

When I have a bath, it's usually because I have had a particularly challenging day and just need to read a book and unplug for a bit for reasons of sanity. I cannot imagine having a bath WITHOUT some sort of bath bomb or something to scent the water so if you like sweeter scents, the Egyptian Milk Bath and Honey Soak* (250g/$24.00 CDN) makes you feel like you are truly a Queen (or King!). Your bathwater turns milky white and smells like honey.

If I'm not having a bath and just have time for a shower, I opt for a full body clay mask! I have only ever had this done at the Miraj Hammam Spa fully nude so it is truly a treat to do a full body mask at home.

Both the Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay* and Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay* ($24.00 CDN) give your skin a tingly sensation from the menthol and even though it is detoxifying, is not harshly drying on the skin. As it dries, you feel a cooling sensation, but since you have to wait for about 10 minutes for the clay to dry I am always left with trying to find something to do as I stand there buck naked in my bathroom. I finally figured out that in addition to playing Sailor Moon Drops on my phone, I could also read a book. I have been reading Amy Schumer's "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo". Once the 10 minutes are up and you hop into the shower to rinse off, it gets MESSY. The grey clay gets everywhere as it liquifies and you need to make sure that you actually wash your body and rub with your hands or parts of your towel will be grey!

Tip use body clay and then exfoliate with scrub to rinse off in shower!

The French Grape Seed Body Scrub* (350mL/$32.00 CDN) is new to the Spa of the World collection and is made with grape seed powder from France and fair trade organic sugar from Paraguay. The scent is of this scrub is very fresh with the density of the scrub being on the thicker side for a deep exfoliation - just the way I like it! This is one of my favourite types of body scrub consistencies as I tend to be an intense exfoliator. I probably wouldn't use this everyday, but when I do, it feels like fantastic! Your skin will thank  you!

Ingredients: Glycerin, Sucrose, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Parfum/Fragrance, Polyacrylamide, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Aqua/Water/Eau, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Oenothera Biennis Seed/Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed, Laureth-7, Geraniol, Vitis Vinifera Seed Powder/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Powder, Limonene, Vitis Vinifera Bud Extract/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Bud Extract, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 19140/Yellow 5 Lake, CI 77288/Chromium Oxide Greens

There are a couple of options when it comes to moisturizer with my latest love being the new Ethiopian Green Coffee Firming Body Cream* (350mL/$36.00 CDN). This gel-cream body moisturizer contains green coffee harvested from Ethiopia and is part of The Body Shop's "Firming Ritual" as caffeine is known to tighten and tone the skin temporarily. When I first saw that this was on the gel side of the moisturizer equation, I did not think this would be hydrating enough, but it really is! There is a dimethicone in this product which helps with the "glide" this product provides, but I can't deny enjoying it because when paired with the French Grape Seed Body Scrub, my skin felt super soft, smooth and pampered!

My other body cream favourites are the Japanese Camellia Velvet Moisture Body Cream* (350mL/$36.00 CDN) and the Hawaiian Kukui Body Cream Moisturizer* (350mL/$36.00 CDN) which are both very similar in terms of purpose, but their scents are fairly different with Japanese Camellia being more floral and Hawaiian Kukui being more sweet. Both of these are fairly thick in texture and incredibly hydrating.

And lastly, when I'm feeling a bit lazy I opt for the Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil* (170mL/$24.00 CDN), a blend of almond, coconut and sunflower oil and tiare flowers, that can be used on both body and hair. This makes you feel like you have been whisked away to some tropical beach and smells just so good. This is a thicker, more viscous body oil that you massage into the skin, but in the end does not feel greasy - just good.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil/Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (Emollient), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Cocos Nucifera Oil/Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance Ingredient), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Gardenia Tahitensis Flower Extract/Tiare (Gardenia Tahitensis) Flower Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Benzyl Benzoate (Fragrance Ingredient)

I wish I could do this whole routine every night, but if I can manage it even just once a week, I would be pretty happy! Honestly, even just using one of these products makes me feel so much more relaxed at the end of the day and though the Body Shop has always had great body care products, there is something about the Spa of the World series that makes the pamper process THAT much more exotic.

Spoil yourself or a loved one this holiday season with a product (or two!) from The Body Shop's Spa of the World!
