SKINCARE | *NEW* b.liv Age Eraser Youth Preserving Bio-Cellulose Mask

You guys know I love a good sheet mask and when you make it a bio-cellulose sheet mask, life is pretty much complete. While I had mainly positive things to say about my last b.liv sheet mask (here), the one thing that I didn't like was the tackiness of the essence that lingered for almost an hour. Tackiness is pretty common for MOST sheet masks, but it is still something my skin has not gotten used to. The neweset innovations from b.liv are a series of bio-cellulose masks aimed at: hydration, soothing and anti-aging with today's review being all about the b.liv Age Eraser Youth Preserving Bio-Cellulose Mask* ($35.00 USD)!

b.liv Age Eraser Bio Cellulose Mask Review

If you have not tried a bio-cellulose mask before, they are the latest upgrade in sheet masks as they are able to hold up to a whopping 500x more ingredients than their cotton counterparts while allowing the skin to breathe through this second skin-like material. I have no idea how they are made as the creation of sheet masks tends to be a closely guarded secret like how to make Coca Cola. All I know is that when I use a bio-cellulose mask, the price goes up, BUT the results are much more noticeable.

The Youth Preserving masks come in a pack of 4 and are intended to be used 2-3x/week which means one box will not go very far if you really want to take this routine seriously!

BEFORE

I tend to do my sheet masking after I have my nightly shower so after I have cleansed and toned my skin, I apply my sheet mask at the "serum" step. The first thing I noticed about this mask was how dense and heavy it felt! I have used bio-cellulose masks before, but not as thick as this one. The mask was sandwiched between two linings which I understand is for protection, but I always have the hardest time separating all of the layers! Even though the mask is thick, it fit my face extremely well and stayed put for the full 20 minutes I had it on.

If you have a look at the ingredients list, it's pretty short AND there are even peptides! Yes, they are at the end of the list, but I was still happy to see them because solid anti-aging products will contain peptides. The other thing you will notice is the lack of "parfum" so sensitive skin peeps shouldn't have an issue as this mask literally smells like nothing.

Ingredients: Aqua (water), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Algin, Chlorphenesin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Mannitol, o-Cymen-5-Ol, Sodium Citrate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-15

I don't normally post "before" and "after" photos because the differences are so subtle visually even though my skin FELT much better! The most noticeable difference in the photos is the brightness and evenness in my skin tone. It doesn't show how utterly SMOOTH my skin felt to the point where I thought there were silicones in the essence! After massaging in the essence, there was literally ZERO tackiness. Just smooth smooth skin! My skin also had a great little bounce it.

AFTER

Final verdict: Even after applying moisturizer, that smoothness of my skin remained and I just kept wanting to "pet" my skin all night so colour me impressed! At $8.75 USD per mask, these aren't the cheapest, but when it comes to bio-cellulose masks they are seen as more of a treatment than a one-time fun mask that is highly amusing but does nothing much for the skin. Sheet masks have a fun category as well as one that has a targeted more technical purpose and this one is most certainly the latter. As much as I would love to use this mask a couple of times a week, realistically I would probably use it at most once a week in conjunction with my other more inexpensive sheet masks for upkeep. Bio-cellulose masks are such a treat for me that I tend to use them only for special occasions or when my skin is feeling particularly blargh, but I would most definitely recommend this mask to anyone looking for a boost of pretty much everything from moisture to bounce!
