NAILS | Here We Go Again with the Stripes! #ManiMonday

I have not done my nails in SO LONG that when I sat down to do this manicure, I nearly forgot to do a basecoat! I mean, who ARE you Jayne? While I was away in Maine and Montreal, I decided to go bare-nailed because I wasn't sure whether I would have time to paint my nails and didn't want to get sick of the colour I had chosen so it seemed easier to go naked. My nails did suffer their breaks when playing frisbee so while they are a bit shorter for now, I am hoping they will grow out in time for Halloween nails which I adore so much!

I feel like I have done this colour combination of purple and silver before, but it's one that I always enjoy. Both of these Essie shades are from this season's NYC -themed collection with two coats of the light mauve creme "It Takes a West Village" on my index and pinky nails and one thick coat of the metallic silver "Empire State of Mind" on the middle and ring nails.

Once the middle two nails were dry, I used a multi-linear vinyl to create the lines, but then I had to hand-draw them because the vinyl was so TERRIBLE. I finished with a fishtail French manicure and applied a black square gem to the middle of the nails to negate the terribleness of the stripes created by the vinyl. Once I applied top coat, the world seemed right again!

My first Monday back at work wasn't too bad, but I have a feeling the rest of the week might be more of a doozy as we move into our busiest quarter! Hope you all had a wonderful day!
