It is the Year of the Pig have been hunting piggy beauty products since last year in the hopes that I would have a bounty of pig products for you, but in the beauty world most seem to be in Asia or are packaged in pig paraphernalia, but the products themselves are just normal or in red for the Lunar New Year. When it comes to LE things, I really need to enjoy using them too so I didn't want to spend too frivolously. My friend Jessie knew of my "hunt for the pig" and alerted me to the BECCA Year of the Pig Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter at Beautylish just after New Year's. I have never clicked "COMPLETE ORDER" so fast!
I got it from my momma (actually, I just bought it myself)
We all know about the magic of BECCA's highlighters so I won't chatter too much about them other than to say BECCA has earned a place in my mind as having smooth, pigmented, lit to the heavens highlighters. I spoiled myself with Champagne Pop a few years back and though I don't really need any more highlighters, I'd like to think I have fewer the most makeup lovers and can therefore rationalize THIS purchase.
This year's limited edition Lunar New Year shade is supposed to be a soft peachy pink, but unfortunately looks more chalky, white when swatched. Thankfully, it seemed to fare better on my cheekbones when paired off with other makeup, but if I had merely swatched this in-store and there was no pig embossed on the highlighter? This would have been a pass for me.
Obviously, I will hang on to this because it thankfully worked once applied to my face and the pig embossing has actually hung around longer than I thought it would considering how many times I have used this product, but without the Year of the Pig quality, this is not one of my favourite BECCA products. I probably would have picked up a more gold highlighter or a blush with my $51!
What year of the Chinese zodiac are you? Who else is a piggy like me? The Year of the Pig Shimmering Skin Perfector can be found at Sephora and Beautylish.
