SKINCARE | #CBBGetsSheetFaced Week 4 with Su:m37, Sulwhasoo, Dr. Jart, Neogen and Trish McEvoy #LuxeWeek

OMG the final week of #CBBGetsSheetFaced is over and what a ride! Renee, Chantal and I all managed to stick to our masking schedules and have our skin not completely freak out! I did get my one very painful pimple which has now scarred so I'll have to stay on top of my Vitamin C treatments for that! This last week was all about luxe sheet masks being any sheet mask that cost more than $5. At this point, I have become quite comfortable spending $20 on a one-use sheet mask just to satisfy my curiosity and let you all know whether it was worth the price, but hopefully I chose some masks that some of you have been interested in trying!

Su:m37 Secret Programming Mask

Su:m37 Secret Programming Mask

Day 1: Su:m37 Secret Programming Mask (~$12-13 CDN)

I first heard about this mask from Jen (@meejmuse) on her Top Sheet Masks of all time video in 2016 and made a mental note to try Su:m37 once I had the chance. When The Face Shop started carrying Su:m37 products including this mask I waited until there was some sort of promotion because they were sold only in a box set. The day came on Boxing Day when I was able to save 20% and give some of their products a try! This mask had a synthetic and smooth-feeling mask sheet with a silky and creamy essence. The mask is formulated with 80 plant extracts (that's right 8-0!) and was VERY hydrating. This mask does have dimethicone in it so the finish was only slightly tacky despite how creamy the mask was. Honestly, I don't think the 80 plant extracts make sense especially if you are going to put dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane at the top of the list. The mask was nice, but I have seen my skin look better with far less.

Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Brightening Mask

Day 2: Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Brightening Mask* ($18 CDN)

So far almost every product I have tried from Sulwhasoo, I have loved! While using the 10 step Sulwhasoo routine is a bit much for me (I really can't as I start to break out), the individual products on their own have all worked well when used with just a few other Sulwhasoo products or other brands. As you can tell this is a biocellulose mask which has been fermented in white ginseng for two weeks. Like all Sulwhasoo products, the essence has a lovely ginger scent and was of course a perfect fit. The tackiness level was medium, but my skin felt hydrated and bouncy well into the next day. You will not need moisturizer if you use this baby!

Day 3: Su:um 37 Water-full Deep Hydrating Gel Mask

Su:m37 Water-full Deep Hydrating Gel Mask

Day 3: Su:m37 Water-full Deep Hydrating Gel Mask (~$13 CDN)

This is effectively a two piece hydrogel mask containing fermented bamboo water to quench dry skin. This mask also has a bit of a texture which I felt prevented the mask from sliding around as much as other hydrogel masks. The mask fit fairly well with a bit of bunching around the chin, but it stayed in place. The scent of the mask was quite neutral and left my skin hydrated upon removal with minimal tackiness. For a hydrogel mask, what set this one apart was that it stayed locked on my face instead of sliding down like most do.

Dr. Jart Bright Lover Rubber Mask

Day 4: Dr. Jart Bright Lover Rubber Mask ($15 CDN)

After trying and loving the Dr. Jart Hydration Lover Rubber Mask (review), Bright Lover was next on my list! This mask promises to brighten and even out skin tone and is composed of two steps - a brightening ampoule and the rubber mask. The idea behind the rubber is to prevent ingredients from evaporating and forcing them into the skin. Whether this physically causes ingredients to go into the skin I don't know, but your skin definitely won't be dry! There is plenty of ampoule to go around with some going on my body. Both the ampoule and mask essence smelled yummy like citrus fruits and was plenty hydrating in the almost 45 minutes I had this mask on. Did it brighten up my skin significantly? Oddly enough, no...I didn't see a noticeable difference and though I loved the cooling effect of having the rubber on my face, I think I prefer the Hydration Lover because it had eucalyptus and peppermint which felt more refreshing.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Creamy Mask

Day 5: Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Creamy Mask ($30 CDN)

Ok, now we are getting up there in pricing with the newest sheet mask from Sulwhasoo. To me, this mask is worth every friggin' penny! This comes in a 5 box set for $150 and has been one of the nicest masks I have tried! I will be doing a better review of this mask on its own because not only does it look like a piece of art, but the cream felt luxurious and my skin felt fantastic afterwards. The cool thing with this mask is that the cream is on one side (like the mud sheet mask I love so much) so it's all very clean and neat in terms of mess. The mask material is also kind of "moldable" so once you press down it stays in place! I honestly want to apply all of my moisturizers like this now!

Trish McEvoy Instant Solutions Hydrate and Glow Dry Sheet Mask

Trish McEvoy Instant Solutions Hydrate and Glow Dry Sheet Mask

Day 6: Trish McEvoy Instant Solutions Hydrate and Glow Dry Sheet Mask (~$30 CDN)

Before you balk at the price, this is a DRY sheet mask that can be used 3x though you all know that I usually push this to about 5x! I won't talk about this too much as I have reviewed dry sheet masks before for Charlotte Tilbury (here) and Nanette de Gaspe (here) so there isn't too much for me to add other than this mask fabric was more comfortable than CT ($28 CDN) and price is obviously cheaper than NDG ($145 CDN) and CT. The ingredients are VERY similar to both masks as is the fit on the face. What IS interesting is that the instructions say that this mask can be worn OVER makeup if you need a bit of hydration boost. I have not tried that yet because once you wear it over makeup, the underside gets dirty and you can't really wear it again which for a $30 mask seems crazy. IF I were to do it, I'd probably do it on the FINAL use.

Neogen Truffle Hydramax Knit Mask

Neogen Truffle Hydramax Knit Mask

Day 7: Neogen Truffle Hydramax Knit Mask ($11.63 CDN)

This mask has been talked about heavily among sheet mask lovers and I finally picked it up from YesStyle.ca a few months ago to see what the fuss was all about! This is the ULTIMATE dry skin mask as it holds a whopping 60mL of essence due to the thick, knit material of the mask. There is also a neck piece which actually STAYS ON because the mask is so heavy with essence! The recommended time is 15-20 minutes, but I was able to leave this mask on no problem for ONE HOUR. Will I use this mask again? Well, yes because I bought two, but I found the essence SO STICKY and I hate it when my neck is sticky...it is INCREDIBLY hydrating and I probably would have been better without the neck portion. Surprisingly, after 2 hours the finish on my face wasn't tacky, but not quite smooth either. It was just something in the middle.

That wraps up 28 days of sheet masks with Renee of See the World in Pink and Chantal from Chantal's Corner! This isn't the last you will see of us as we will be returning in April with sheet masks from green beauty brands!
