SHEET MASK | The Body Shop Youth Concentrate Sheet Mask

When I attended The Body Shop holiday preview last Fall, I was literally on Day 100 of #100DaysofSheetMasks and that's when it was hinted to me that there may or may not be a sheet mask in the works for the Drops of Youth line in the new year. When the Youth Concentrate Sheet Mask* dropped, I had instant grabby hands because that's apparently what I do now with sheet masks. I'm like a crow for sheet masks instead of shiny objects!

For those of you unfamiliar with the Drops of Youth line, this is what I would call a "first care" skincare line for anyone who is just starting their anti-aging skincare journey and is looking to target fine lines or for early prevention. This line is known to infuse plant stem cells into their skincare as stem cells are known for their regenerative abilities. I actually wrote a review on the Drops of Youth Concentrate 6 YEARS ago (here) and really enjoyed it as one of the first serums I had ever used regularly and it is intended to be used in conjunction with the sheet mask.

Enriched with edelweiss, criste marine and sea holly plant cells, the Youth Concentrate Sheet Mask is 100% vegan and made of a biodegradable mask sheet. The essence itself contains 70% of the concentrate in a 30mL bottle of Drops of Youth Concentrate and on its own promises to leave skin bouncy and plump.

In terms of ingredient value, the featured plant stem cells are quite close to the bottom of the ingredients list, which is at least quite short. There is hyaluronic acid close to the top of the list which is a good thing and definitely adds hydration value to the essence. The combination of ingredients is actually not bad and better than a fair number of sheet masks out there, but I do wish the featured ingredients ranked higher (though what really matters is whether they are still effective at the lower concentrations).

Final verdict: So, while my skin did feel perky, refreshed and smooth upon removing the mask, I did need moisturizer on top. There was absolutely no residue left behind which I always love and though it's nice to say "Oh, I didn't need any additional moisture on my skin", I actually don't mind if I need to complete my skincare routine with a facial oil or moisturizer. If anything, I know most of us HATE that tacky feeling and waiting around for it to disappear before we can go to bed. Perhaps we could improve on the thickness of the mask sheet and have the material be a bit thinner so that the contours of my face would feel more "hugged", but for Body Shop's first sheet mask, it was fairly good in terms of results and scent. I've heard there are more sheet masks in the works so I'm curious to see how those are!
