SHEET MASK | Boo Bamboo Charcoal Sheet Masks #EarthMonth

I am always raring to go when it comes to talking about sheet masks and though I now have far too many to count (probably around 800?) I never get tired of finding new ones to try! Last summer I tried my first brightening charcoal sheet mask from clean and Canadian beauty brand Boo Bamboo and now I have its three sheet mask siblings to share with you!

Though there are now so many sheet masks out there, a fairly small percentage fall into the clean beauty category and though I don't actively seek out "healthy" sheet masks, I do appreciate the effort that goes into making an Earth-friendly sheet mask. Designed in Canada, but made in Korea, these 100% bamboo fiber charcoal sheet masks are vegan in formula, paraben-free and made with ingredients from natural sources. There are four different charcoal mask "flavours" with my review for Brightening having gone live last summer when I was doing the #31DaysofSheetMasks challenge. I loved the mask so much that I was googly-eyed when I got a chance to try the Anti-Aging, Hydrating and Pore Refining charcoal masks because how different could they be?

The Anti Aging Charcoal Sheet Mask* features geranium oil and soluble collagen and works to target areas of dry skin and bring dull skin back to life! This was the most hydrating of the group of four masks I tried which makes sense seeing as how it was intended to be the most plumping, but the tackiness did take some time to die down.

Mask Summary:

Scent: Herbal
Duration: 10-20 min
Thickness: Thin - medium
Mask Fit: VERY good with no goatee
Tackiness: Medium
Hydration: Very good

I wasn't sure how I would feel about the Pore Refining Charcoal Sheet Mask* because I tend to stay away from most skincare products that reduce or control sebum since oil is something my skin really likes and NEEDS. This mask contains, green tea and strawberry extract (such a hot fruit right now) and I honestly didn't notice a huge difference in my pores or complexion afterwards which I wasn't surprised about. What I was surprised about was that my skin didn't feel dry or in need of moisturizer afterwards and though the essence wasn't as tacky as the other three masks I tried, my skin was happy with the level of moisture it received.

The Hydrating Charcoal Sheet Mask* was actually my favourite of the whole group because it seemed to have the best of the Anti-Aging and was incredibly brightening. The tackiness level on this guy was high, but after around 2 hours when the essence because "a part of me", my skin looked almost white with brightness. Moreso than with the actual Brightening Charcoal Sheet Mask!

Tackiness: High

I won't talk too much about the Brightening Charcoal Sheet Mask* as I have already reviewed in length from when I did my #31DaysofSheetMasks challenge, but I will say that even though the majority of these masks were fairly tacky in finish, when left to sink into the skin for at least 2 hours, my skin needed no moisturizer and seemed "rebooted".

The fit of the masks was fantastic and one of my favourites to wear! The bamboo fiber was very soft, pliable and went around the contours of my face very nicely with slits in all the right places! All in all a pleasure to wear!

Final verdict: For a set of charcoal masks, these sheet masks are surprisingly hydrating with the Hydrating mask being the one with the best results on my skin. I really thought it would be the Anti-Aging or Brightening masks that would have had the most dramatic results and while the results were still nice, the Hydrating one would be the one I would purchase. The clarifying aspects that come with charcoal (for me) were subtle as my skin is generally clear thanks to a combination of AHAs and genetics and the differences between each of the masks were very minute, but all were still solid performing sheet masks!
