Before we even get into the mask, let's start off this post by mentioning that THIS IS MY 2000th BLOG POST! Not that all of my posts are incredibly meaty, but well into my 7th year of blogging I have managed to stay relatively close to 20 posts a month from when I was still in school to now having a full time job and I have realized that as long as you keep talking about things that interest you whether they be the newest beauty releases, heart to hearts or endless sheet mask chatter, the content will never stop and never feel like work. It will always feel truly fun and I hope I will be able to write well into my menopausal years!
What's in store for this 2000th blog post? One of the luxurious masks from the 100 Days of Sheet Mask challenge - the AmorePacific Moisture Bound Intensive Serum Masque!

PR sample
Yes, this exact mask in the photos was a press sample, but the other two I have in my latest Sephora order are all my own doing because I knew I had to try this mask again! Once was not enough! This Intensive Serum Masque is cool because it is a 2-stepper and is a mask that cools and plumps the skin for an instant glow! I now officially love multi-step sheet masks because I feel I'm getting a bit of an enhanced sheet mask experience!
The first step of this mask is to apply the entire contents of the ampoule and do it FAST. The instructions just say to "not wait for the product to absorb" which is very true, but they don't tell you just how QUICKLY the ampoule starts to almost evaporate! I had a heads up from Shayna from A Pop of Colour about this, so I got the mask ready to apply right away and I am sure glad I did!
The mask consists of two parts for the lower and upper parts of the face and are made of a gel on one side and fabric on the other. Very similar to the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels so this mask actually "sticks" to the skin and fits nicely to all curves. While the ampoule is still moist on the skin, apply both parts of the mask to seal in the goodness for 10-15 minutes and enjoy!
You will notice that instead of water as the first ingredient, you have bamboo tree sap which was interesting followed by alcohol which we have all read is a terrible thing to have in our skincare. Honestly, I wish this wasn't so early in the ingredients list as I know this is the reason why the ampoule evaporates so quickly, but what I couldn't get over was that even though my brain SAYS this should be drying, my skin certainly did not feel that way so maybe all of the other plant-based ingredients balance out the effects, I don't know!
Ingredients: Phyllostachis Bambusoides Juice (bamboo sap), Alcohol, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Lactobacillus/Water Hyacinth Ferment, Hydrolyzed Phyllostachis Bambusoides, Hydrolyzed Camellia Sinensis Leaf, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tricholoma Matsutake Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Flower Extract, Theanine, Betaine, Natto Gum, Beta-Glucan, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 20, Peg-15 Pentaerythrityl Tetra (Laureth-6 Carboxylate), Propanediol, Stearyl Behenate, Mannitol, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Phytantriol, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide Mea, Poloxamer 407, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Zinc Gluconate, Magnesium Aspartate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Copper Gluconate, Calcium Gluconate, Caffeine, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Kaempferol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
I ADORE how these masks with the gel on one side feel against the skin because it is immediately cooling and refreshing to the skin, The gel also seems to fit the curve of the face better and than some hydrogel and cotton masks. The mask itself has no essence so it's really the ampoule that provides moisture, but the gel side of the mask is sticky and easily adheres to the skin.
Mask Summary:
Scent: Powdery and floral (The AmorePacific scent is one that I have always found a bit strong)
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Thickness: Thin for this type of gel mask
Mask Fit: Pretty good!
Tackiness: Zero
Hydration: My skin felt soft and happy
Final verdict: What I loved about this mask the mask was the cooling effect of the mask itself and not necessarily the ingredients of the ampoule. I found the mask refreshing and the overall fit pretty good with the nose portion being a bit long. This is a more luxurious mask at $35 CDN for two and though I hope the alcohol gets replaced with a fatty one, I can't say that I wouldn't buy this again because I enjoyed the overall experience and how my skin felt afterwards.
You can find the AmorePacific Moisture Bound Intensive Serum Masque at Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew and Sephora.
