SHEET MASK | Mediheal Meience Tofu Milk, Blackbean Tea, Projelly and Nattogum Masks

Using these Mediheal masks has made me realize how long it has been since I have been to Miniso, which is where I picked these masks up! What actually got my attention was the Nattogum mask because my mom used to eat it all the time when I was a kid and if you don't know what it is (fermented soybeans), it's a very acquired taste IMO! It has a really particular smell and I don't know if I could eat it now, but I remember really not liking the scent! 

I am not sure where the term "meience" comes from (I have Googled like crazy with no luck), but I am guessing it is some sort of amalgamation of the words "Mediheal" and "science". There are four masks in the Meience series: Nattogum, Blackbean, Projelly and Tofu Milk all of which were surprisingly different from each other!

What makes this mask special? This mask is made of OEKO-TEX Class 1 certified, triple layer embossed bamboo sheet, an especially soft material referred to as a "bella soft sheet". It also contains Lactobacillus ferment to soothe and Bifida ferment lysate and yeast to nourish and reinforce the skin barrier.

The fit and feel of this mask was truly one of the best I have used! Super soft, comfortable, stretchy and felt like a true second skin!

What it does: Hydrates, soothes and replenishes skin and soothes it from environmental stressors.

Scent: A little bit like lavender which I loooooooved!

Essence Type: Creamy and slightly pearly

Duration: 30 minutes

Thickness: Thin

Mask Fit: Amazing! So soft and fit extremely well along the chin.

Tackiness: Light, but not distracting and did not stick to my pillowcase.

Hydration: Good, I did not feel the need for additional moisturizer.

Other notes: Just cannot get over how nicely this mask fit! Super comfortable! 

What makes this mask special? Firstly, this mask is black and made of a bamboo charcoal and rayon blend and is formulated with brightening niacinamide and black tea and black bean extract both known for its antioxidant power.

This mask material was not quite as soft as the one for the Tofu mask, but still had a reasonably good fit.

What it does: Give brighter, dewier, revitalized skin

Scent: I call it "fragrant bean". Kind of floral, a little sweet and could be edible.

Essence Type: Clear, viscous 

Duration: 30 minutes

Thickness: Thin

Mask Fit: Pretty good, but not as nice as the Tofu Milk as I found that mask very long on the chin and thin in the "moustache" area.

Tackiness: None, my skin actually had a super smooth finish

Hydration: Good, I did not feel the need for additional moisturizer.

Other notes: The sheet mask fabric did not feel quite as soft and cottony as the fabric for Tofu Milk.

What make this mask special? We have a third type of sheet mask material here with the Projelly mask being made of linen?! This was a first for me (I know this is saying something!) and actually reminded me a lot of the Sephora Collection's banana fiber sheet masks. This mask is filled with all sorts of skin soothing ingredients like propolis, royal jelly extract, honey extract and mushroom extract.

The fit of the mask was fairly decent, but I feel like because I tried the Tofu Mask first, every other mask just didn't fit quite as nicely.

Essence Type: Clear with a slightly yellow hue, viscous

Duration: 30 minutes

Thickness: Thin-medium

Mask Fit: Pretty good, but not as soft feeling as the Tofu Milk 

Tackiness: Light

Hydration: Pretty good!

I saved "the best" for last as I REALLY didn't know what Mediheal was going to do with a natto mask, but thankfully it did not smell like the real thing! So, what makes this mask special? This mask sheet is made of Tencel Cupra and unfortunately, I did not take a photo of this mask, but the fit was near identical to the previous Projelly mask. What I did find interesting about this mask is that even though it did not smell like natto, the essence had that gooey consistency that you see on the front of the packaging. This is VERY characteristically natto! Compared to the other three sheet masks, I found this mask had the fewest plant/"natural" ingredients which is fine, but it was just an observation. I loved the finish it left on my skin as there is dimethicone in it so super smooth and poreless skin really did result after I removed the mask!

What it does: Reduce the appearance of pores, sagging skin and firms the skin.

Scent: Floral 

Essence Type: Milky and viscous

Duration: 30 minutes

Thickness: Thin-medium

Mask Fit: Pretty good, but not as soft feeling as the Tofu Milk 

Tackiness: Light and slightly sticky at first (like real natto!), but then after about an hour, the tackiness completely vanished and left me with super soft finish.

Hydration: My skin felt like I had a massive infusion of hydration. The texture was MUCH softer, smoother and cool to the touch.

Final verdict: I was delightfully surprised that all four masks were so different! I was expecting them to all be fairly similar in material and results, but I could not have been more wrong! My favourite masks were the Tofu Mask hands down and the Nattogum Mask which I was not expecting. If I ever see these again at Miniso, I will pick up the latter two masks without hesitation!
