MAKEUP | Fenty Beauty Holiday Lined + Luminized 2-Piece Lip Set

While I was making my Sephora VIB purchases in November last year, I made a little pact with myself that IF I were to make a purchase, I should indirectly "subsidize" the cost of it by doing a review and blogging about it. Yes, this was the idea with all of the other purchases I have made in the past, but I actually struggled to keep my VIB Rouge status last year now that I do most of my makeup purchases through Dior/Holts. I basically ordered 4x from Sephora - two of which were VIB Rouge events, one order of sale items to add to my birthday gift and one order to use my $100 Rouge Gift so it was all very controlled and they were specifically Sephora exclusive items. This year, I don't even know if I want to give Sephora $1000 of my money, but I am sure the beauty lover in me is going to want something new and fun to try out at some point so we shall see!

One brand that does continue to impress me is Fenty Beauty! While I wish Rihanna would put out an album, she is doing an amazing job with Fenty Beauty and it's obvious that it does well because of her involvement because she is super cool!  I hadn't grabbed a Fenty Gloss Bomb since they launched years ago so when I saw this limited edition set I was really into the shades of both the lip gloss and lipliner!

This kit contains full sizes of: the Trace'd Out Pencil Lip Liner in Riri and Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Grape Splash. Purchased individually, these two items should cost $57 CDN, but this set was $32.50 CDN! 

Grape Splash has a pleasant, sweet and juicy scent and is this gorgeous iridescent purple-toned shimmer that looks so eye-catching in person! I forgot to take a photo, but for those of you who are familiar with Fenty's Gloss Bomb, the doe foot applicator is fairly large and plushy so there is more than enough product for one application! 

The Riri Lip Liner is suuuuuper smooth and creamy that I also use it as a lipstick if I really want my lips to have some punch!

The trend right now is going back to the 90s, my teenage years, and lining the lips in a more obvious way and then filling it in with a lip gloss. You know, I am so glad that I am still fairly young and can pull off this look! In this era, the contrast isn't quite as harsh as we used to do it (think brown liner and light pink/clear gloss), so I blend my liner a little more and then fill in with gloss with a little bit of an extra dollop in the center of my lip. The result is this cool, multidimensional lip look that I only wish lasted longer than my morning coffee!

Final verdict: The lip liner is definitely one that I enjoy using for its creaminess, lack of tugging and how long lasting it is. I love the lip gloss, but this does vanish with drinking and eating fairly easily so you will need to reapply to keep this look going!
