LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Apr.22nd - Severance, Over the Top, Pink Gems, Movie Night Out and a Pretty Coffee

Ooh, I haven't done one of these posts in awhile! It has been a bit crazy the last two weeks so I haven't had a chance to do anything really fun or take pictures of anything I have been enjoying. Work has been about keeping my head above water, but we all made it out alive which is what matters!

ONE

OMG this show! I haven't finished it yet, but I saw the tweets for the season finale and everyone's minds were blown (even Stephen King's!). I like Adam Scott's performance in The Good Place and of course Parks and Recreation  so when my husband first told me what this show was about, I was immediately fascinated! I actually have always wanted to not think about work at home and that's what Severance is about! People voluntarily separate their brains so that while at work, they only know work and when they clock out, their "outies" or home selves only know their home life and nothing of work. Creepy and weird, right? Talk about a work-life balance extreme!

FASHION | Gold Elegance with SOUFEEL

I have mentioned how when it comes to gems and jewels, I am pretty selective and it takes a real quality product for me to go "wow" and dedicate an entire blog post to it, but that was indeed the case with SOUFEEL. Two Christmases ago, I reviewed the cutest sterling silver bracelet (here) and when SOUFEEL reached for another review, I couldn't do silver again because you guys have already seen that they have beautifully made sterling silver bracelets, so this time I went with gold! Mmmm, I love goooold!

FASHION | SOUFEEL Christmas Charm Bracelet Review

I feel like every post in December is pretty much a gift idea for Christmas. It is such a funny time to blog because I feel like every post needs to be centered around the holidays and while I will do my best to throw in bits of normalcy with the Christmas posts, today is all about Christmas! Back in the spring, I reviewed a SOUFEEL sterling silver charm bracelet (here) that I was VERY impressed by in terms of quality. Every charm had the characteristic 925 sterling silver stamp of authenticity and both the charms and the bracelet were solid and not hollow. There is always a charm for every occasion and even though I'm not a huge charm bracelet gal, if you were to have a look at the Christmas charms SOUFEEL has right now, you will find yourself wanting shiny miniatures of everything you value in life.

HAIR | Dress Up Your Tresses with Dauphines of New York Luxury Hair Accessories!

I have a bit of an obsession with hair bands because I’m not great at doing anything else with my hair other than straightening/curling it. I rarely put it up in anything more than a bun which is what made me start collecting hair bands as they are the simplest way for me to add some *bling* to my otherwise boring hairstyles. The biggest issue I have with hair bands is that they always give me a headache after an hour or two so when I received the opportunity to review the glamorous looking, yet super comfortable hair accessories from Dauphines of New York my very first thought was “How long will I be able to wear this on my head before I need an Advil?”

Created by Summer Rej, each hair accessory truly feels like a piece of jewellery. I love glitz and glitter so when I first laid my eyes on this* bejeweled beauty, I was in total awe. Recently introduced to Sephora’s “Beauty on the Fly”, Dauphines of New York hair accessories start at just $24 and are made with semiprecious gemstones of coral, turquoise and pyrite, glistening crystal strands or fine leather. Each hair accessory has an adjustable strap and can also double as a necklace! I love multi-purpose pieces!

FASHION | SOUFEEL Sterling Silver Snake Bracelet with Charms Review

Few of you already know this, but before I began my beauty career, I was actually the director for a large Canadian jewellery company for a decade. Needless to say, I know my gems and shiny baubles VERY well. I know what to look for when it comes to a quality piece, check the security of your diamonds as well as quote you how much a repair would cost. I have helped a few friends find their engagement rings, hand-delivered rings to clients and worked with FedEx to make sure one gal in the Yukon got that 1 carat diamond engagement ring for Christmas! In short, I am very selective when it comes to what I wear so let me honestly say (aren’t I always?) that I was TRULY impressed when I got a taste of the jewellery selection at SOUFEEL.

Rethink Breast Cancer #BattlePink with Swarovski Bling!

Now this is the kind of fight I want to be a part of! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year marks Rethink Breast Cancer’s 2nd edition of #BattlePink, a creative campaign where Canadian influencers battle online in an effort to raise money and awareness for breast cancer this month. There are a number of retailers involved in Rethink which means that for this month, you can go shopping knowing that you’re getting a quality product and supporting a fantastic cause! Those of you who follow me on Instagram may have seen my most recent jewellery purchase from Swarovski!

One of the limited edition PINK items on sale this month is this “Crystal Moonlight” gorgeous slake bracelet ($80 CDN)! You can twist/thread this bracelet if you have a small wrist and has two crystal snap buttons at the back to further adjust the size.

The next item on my list is the Swarovski Pink Hope Pen ($38 CDN) whose body is filled with 160 Swarovski pink crystals! I would never let this pen out of my sight!

There are many other great retailers participating in Rethink Breast Cancer so have fun shopping PINK this month!

Made with Molecules Jewellery

I first read about Made with Molecules in 2008 while googling something nerdy like “DNA necklaces” to see if they actually existed which brought me to Raven Hanna’s beautifully made and nerdy creations! Raven has a Ph.D in molecular biophysics and it all started when she was looking at a picture of serotonin and realized how beautiful it was! She began searching for a serotonin necklace which of course did not exist so she took it upon herself to create jewellery featuring her favourite molecules!

All of her pieces are made in sterling silver, but can feature semi-precious gems upon request. They are incredibly well-made with fairly thick snake chains and good-sized lobster clasps that are often found on jewellery of luxury goods. Lobster clasps are generally more expensive than the circular clasps we often see on costume jewellery and are also more secure and resistant to breakage.

As a side note, even the name of her store when abbreviated, MWM, is representative of a carbon chain with double bonds where the “M” and “W” meet!

Theobromine aka chocolateDSCF4273

My first MWM piece was the chocolate necklace which always garners a lot of attention when worn. I just love the shape and how the molecule is positioned.
