SUBSCRIPTION BOX | November Vancity Box Review

After October's raving review (here) of the Vancity Box, I was more than delighted to be given the opportunity to review November's box as well especially now that we are into the holiday season trying to get gift ideas for our loved ones (or ourselves!). As I mentioned in my previous review, this is a purely artisanal subscription box that is filled with goods made by local companies and there were definitely some familiar favourites this month!

I already have two Vancouver Candle Co. soy candles in woodsy North Shore and Strathcona and absolutely adore them. Not only do I love the names, but the scents are ones that you will never tire of. Each candle is handmade and retails anywhere from $35-$40 at various stockists and are made in small batches of 50. I received Fairview and is one that I have been wanting to add to my collection as I adore citrus scents. These candles are wonderful gifts for visitors and even those of us who call Vancouver home.

This crocheted mug hug is by Amanda of Hooked on Crochet and while I think this is very cute, a mug hug has never really appealed to me so I will be gifting this to someone else. It is quite soft and makes me wish I had the skills to crochet!

The scent of lavender has grown on me incredibly this year as lavender essential oils soothed me quite a bit when I was flying a ton for work earlier this year. I now associate the scent of lavender with feeling relaxed which is the wonder of essential oils which is why I adore this Lavender Vanilla Sugar Scrub from Happily Ever Ava! Made with coconut oil, fair trade sugar, shea butter and dried lavender, this scrub is sure to make shower time oh so much more relaxing!

On the topic of aromatherapy comes the Sweet Sassafras Aromatherapy Spray from Vancouver-based Here & Now Botanicals which is a sweet blend of myrtle, sweet orange, frankincense, birch, benzoin and coriander. Just mist all around or on the body to calm the mind and feel just a little bit better.

This umbrella, designed by Deco Umbrella, was by far the most interesting product in November's Vancity Box as it LOOKS like a wine bottle, but actually contains...AN UMBRELLA! The umbrella is fairly small and compact and while the bottle may seem useless, it is supposed to serve as a place to put your dripping wet umbrella in addition to being decorative. I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't easy getting the umbrella back into the bottle...

Final verdict: The candle was my favourite product in the box and pretty much took care of the value of the Vancity Box! The other products were from companies I didn't even know existed right in my little city and now I'm off to check them out which is the whole idea behind this box. December's Vancity Box is currently all sold out, but there's still time to sign up for January's!
