Playing catch-up again with Week 8 of the BCD Nails Challenge with this week's theme (really last week's) being the Pond Manicure which requires a jelly polish. I attempted this manicure 2 years ago (here), but decided to try the more classic "flowers in water" version. Let's just say that the polish I chose was far too dark, but it was too late to look for something new so I sort of improvised and hoped for the best!
I started off with one coat of OPI Colorpaints - Turquoise Aesthetic* and then hand-painted flowers with acrylic paint. The whole idea of a pond manicure is to keep layering your polish and drawing the flowers with each layer to get a 3D effect. Well, when I got to that second layer on my practice thumb, you couldn't see ANY flowers! So, I switched to a more sheer polish from the OPI Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me* which was perhaps a bit TOO sheer. At any rate, it was late and I have never been one to take a manicure off because I just can't stand wasting polish. Weird, I know.
