SKINCARE | Truly Canadian with the Chorus Supernatural Hydrate Moisturizer and Polish Facial Scrub

I love a good natural product and for those of you who know me, I have learned to be fairly discerning when it comes to "natural" and natural. I get a number of emails about the latest natural skincare to review and if it's too natural, I don't really like it all that much either. What I love are products that are "intelligently natural" and I have a list of brands that I have come to know and love in the last year or two. Let's add one more to the list - Chorus Supernatural, winner of five Clean Beauty Awards this year!

Chorus Supernatural Review

Chorus hails from my home province of British Columbia with 100% of their ingredients being naturally-sourced from places like the coast of Vancouver Island. There is a fairly extensive range of products from skin to hair care, all of which are safe to use for any skin type. They are also registered on the EWG database with one of the lowest toxicity ratings I have seen for a green beauty brand (average score: 1.6).

The basis for all Chorus products are four SUPERNATURAL ingredients: Chorus Phytoplankton, a sustainably sourced blend of over 60 species of marine phytoplankton offering a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, Chorus Moor, a blend of over 100 species of herbs, plants and flowers that have slowly homogenized over thousands of years with a number of therapeutic properties, Chorus Clay, a unique green clay from a remote mountainside and Chorus Seaweed, a Giant Kelp that is sustainably harvested and is so pure that it has organic certification!

I am an exfoliant fanatic, so I was more than happy to start using the Chorus Polish Facial Scrub* ($24.20 CDN/120mL) which is a gentle, physical exfoliant that uses perfectly round jojoba beads to lift away dead skin cells and prep skin for masks and future treatments. It has a lovely lavender scent and is the perfect facial scrub density. It's not tightly packed where I have to be REALLY careful about OVER exfoliating, but it's not so dispersed that I am wondering whether any exfoliation is happening at all.
There is no fragrance, aka no phthalates, in any of the products which means that what you are smelling is what you are getting! Oh, and it definitely leaves my skin feeling refreshed and super smooth.

Ingredients: Aqua, Jojoba Esters, Glycerin, Heilmoor Clay, Macrocystis Integrifolia (Giant Kelp) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Xanthan Gum, Arginine, Acacia Senegal Gum, Perilla Ocymoides Leaf Extract, Acorus Calamus Root Extract, Ormenis Multicaulis (Chamomile) Flower Extract

The second product I was able to try was the Chorus Hydrate Moisturizer for Normal or Sensitive Skin* ($24.90CDN/50ml) which, as you can see from the ingredients list, has a number of hydrating ingredients, like shea butter and olive fruit oil, and though it takes about 5-10 minutes for the moisturizer to fully absorb into the skin, it is WELL WORTH IT. This moisturizer has a non-greasy, non-watery consistency similar to moisturizers with oleosome or "time-released moisture" technology. It works slowly, but my goodness my skin felt so smooth and plump! My skin felt like I had applied a smoothing primer, but nope! Just moisturizer without the silicones! *happy dance*

As an added bonus, the pump is super cool, ergonomic feeling and gives just the right amount of moisturizer. You will notice that no air can get in after each pump as whatever product you squeeze out does not go back into the canister thanks to a seal at the opening. This also increases shelf life and stops bacteria from growing in the product.

Final verdict:
I already have a list of four more items I want to try because I am so pleased with this introduction. Chorus provides quite a bit of information on their ingredients and basis for their EWG ratings which I have never really seen any other company do. Pricing is very affordable, even for those glorious serums I need to try, and after using the moisturizer for almost a month, I know this is one that will stay in my skincare library as my go-to when my skin needs a break. This is a must-try brand!
