SUMMER | Natural Sunscreen with Alba Botanica + GIVEAWAY!

It's finally totally acceptable to show some serious skin and whether I'm going through some sort of early mid-30s crisis or not, I have been craving some smaller clothing which means I need to be much more cognizant of applying sunscreen and WHEN I last applied it. In keeping with my ever-growing collection of green beauty products, natural sunscreens were never the best because they felt like heavy, pore-clogging creams that protected skin from the sun, but made you break out. It's interesting to see how much better technology is now because there are a ton of natural products that rival if not exceed the the performance and quality of the "big guys".

Alba Botanica has been creating 100% vegetarian products since 1979 and though I have used the odd body scrub here and there as well as the sunscreens from last year, but honestly it wasn't until these new sunscreens that Alba flew back onto my radar!

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Review

This season marks the debut of two new Alba Botanica products: the Very Emollient Sport Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50+* and the Very Emollient Kids Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50+* with the difference between the two being that the Sport sunscreen is both water AND sweat resistant while the Kids sunscreen is just water resistant. I love continuous spray sunscreens and both of these spray silently - just the way a good spray should. As for how they feel, the texture spreads easily, but is sticky. Sunscreen probably HAS to be sticky to be waterproof and sweatproof so I get it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Granted, I would have no issues hosing my kids down with this stuff knowing that it stays on the way it does!

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Review

Though this is not a new product, the Alba Facial Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40* is a lightweight, hypoallergenic broad spectrum sunscreen that thankfully has no fragrance. I like coconuts, but whenever I smell it in sunscreen, I just feel sick. This has the consistency of a light moisturizer, but does have a slight residue because well...it's sunscreen. A sunscreen that feels like nothing is tough to find and though this was on the sticky side as well, $12.99 for a healthy, effective sunscreen is a great accessible option.
