MAKEUP LOOK | Shu Uemura Tokyo Trends Cut Crease

I don't think I'm ever going to be the one with fierce and trendy makeup as I can still barely get my winged eyeliner game on. Working with the brand Shu Uemura has gotten me out of my box a bit more over the years in terms of trying more colour, but not many of us think of this brand when it comes to cutting edge or trendsetting, even though there are some crazy cool and work even on what little surface area an Asian eyelid allows! When it came time to try a cut crease, I was scared, but according to the folks at Shu, it was indeed possible with the proper tools.

Shu Uemura Cut Crease

I relied heavily on the Shu Lasting Soft Gel Pencils for this look, but as I mentioned in my review, they set and do no budge so smudging these was difficult making my cut crease a bit more harsh looking. Along with these eyeliners, I was also armed with Shu Uemura Calligraph Ink Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Brown which I did not think would be any different than any other liquid eyeliner on the market, but I was wrong! The pen tip is made of what looks like fine artificial hairs and glides smoothly on top of even the roughest and bumpiest of surfaces. The ONLY thing that makes this eyeliner hard to go for is the price because the pen and the cartridge are sold separately at $24 and $22 respectively. I know, I know. A bit crazy, right? It is REALLY nice though and if you ever get a chance to try it in store you should because it feels quite different than the conventional felt tip liner.

Shu Uemura Cut Crease

It's funny how in real life, this makeup look felt SO out there, but in photos it's totally a G-rated look. I also think I could have gone with a bolder lip, but hey, you live and learn.

Shu Uemura Cut Crease

Face:
Shu Uemura POREraser UV Under Base Mousse in Beige*
Shu Uemura Petal Skin Fluid Foundation in 564 Medium Light Sand*

Eyebrows:

Shu Uemura Brow Sword in Seal Brown*

Eyes:
Apply primer all over the lid and under eyes.
Apply a frosty light blue eyeshadow like E5*, from the Shupette Collection, all over the lid.
Tap a more textured shimmery blue eyeshadow like K6*, from the Shu Cosmikawaii, on top.

Line upper lash line with the Shu Uemura Calligraph Ink Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Brown* and create a wing. I am TERRIBLE at this so please do a better job than I did.

Create the cut crease with the Shu Uemura Lasting Soft Gel Pencil in M Navy Black*. Make sure you "cut" along the same angle as your wing. Do your best to soften the edges of the cut crease. I have a feeling using an eyeshadow may have been easier as this pencil didn't move too much once I had drawn my line.

Line lower waterline and 3/4 of lower lash line with M Navy Black and C5*, from the Shu Cosmicool Palette, and smudge. Tap K6 on the inner corners of the eyes.

Apply Shu Uemura Ultimate Natural Mascara in Black* to top and bottom lashes.

Apply Shu Uemura False Lashes in Soft Cross*.

Cheeks:
C8 from the Shu Cosmicool Palette*

Lips:
Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited  Sheer Shine Lipstick in Maroon*
