MAKEUP | MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua XL Ink Liners with Swatches

I love that what is in right now is COLOUR. Lots of it whether it'd be unicorn hair, lipstick or eyeliner. Yes, neutrals will always be necessary, but never before have I picked up products and gone "Is this for the eyes or for the lips?" I am fairly conservative with my makeup only because I don't know what to do when given the powers of colour and doing something truly creative. I usually end up doing something I know how to do already, but with a bolder colour. I just don't have the same confidence with my face as I do with my nails, so I like products that make it easy to create something a bit more daring.

MAKE UP FOR EVER has been coming out with so many products with a Crayola range of colours that I can't help but want to put fuchsia creams on my eyes and blues on my lips! My most recent MUFE love has been the Aqua XL Ink Liners ($30.00 CDN), released in the summer of this year. Coming in matte, lustrous, diamond and metallic finishes, these waterproof liquid liners have a flexible pen-like tip that allows for robot-like precision. You can both use these as your main liner or as an accent to layer on top of another. Needless to say, I was sent two in a press package, but ended up buying two more because I found them SO BALLER.

The applicator is a skinny felt tip that bends easily while still feeling sturdy so even for someone like me that cannot do a cat eye if her life depended on it, I can contort the brush in whichever way and get a controlled looking line.

I received the shades: M-30* and L-80*, but I adore blue and had to pick up M-24 and most recently as last weekend, M-26 for layering purposes with M-24. All four of these eyeliners lasted a full work day on me with some slight fading in colour intensity. I think of you have less monolidded eyes, the intensity should remain the same.

For the look below, I used M-24 to create my wing and then dotted all around my eyelid. I didn't think to do dots at first, but because the tip of the applicator is so sturdy, I was able to dot with absolute precision! I could not believe how much control I had!

Final verdict: I've read some mixed reviews with regards to some of the other colours, but these four that I have worked for me with the exception of some fading at the end of the day if you have oily or more monolidded eyes. These are not easy on the wallet and there are brands like NYX that have vivid matte eyeliners for something like $8 which work too (I've used both). If you are gifted with mad eyeliner skills, you will find that the MUFE one just has more finesse when it comes to application. I find the NYX ones a little bit harder to use as the applicator is a soft brush that requires more dexterity to wield, BUT does work too for a fraction of the price. I probably won't spend more money to get the whole Ink Liner collection, but I am very pleased with the shades I have. Maybe, I'll even spring for a black one?
