BEAUTY | Lip Smacker Lip Cafe Frappe and Coca Cola Cup Lip Balms

How many of you carried around a Lip Smacker or two growing up in the 90s? I was really into matching Puma and Nike tracksuits and always had a Vanilla Lip Smacker in my trackpants pocket. It got washed one time and even then my lip balm (and pants) survived! I went through so many Vanilla Lip Smackers and refused to buy any other flavour because they were all sealed in their packages and I didn't want to risk not liking a flavour because God know that it's just WASTEFUL to have more than ONE lip product on the go! Ha! If I could tell my 10 year old self what Jayne would be like in the future!

I phased out Lip Smackers around the end of my first year of university at UBC. I had had a rough year when it came to a bad relationship, family dramas and just going through an intense first year of science that seemed so difficult I felt like switching to Arts. I guess all of this made me grow up a little bit and leave my Lip Smacker days behind...

Though Lip Smackers are still around in their classic tube, some new ones have emerged and not only do they smell warm and fuzzy, but they have the CUUUTEST packaging!

The Lip Cafe Frappe Cup Lip Balms come in five delicious flavours: Caramel*, Mocha Chip*, Cinnamon Churro*, Vanilla Chai* and of course the Fall favourite, Pumpkin Spice*!

I opened these guys up real slow because the lip balm part is actually long and can easily be nicked by the whipped cream cap if opened too enthusiastically.

The scents themselves remind me so much of classic Lip Smackers where they smell a little bit artificial, but kind of comforting too. My favourite scents were Caramel, Vanilla Chai and Mocha Chip, even though Mocha Chip smelled more like basic chocolate.

Talk about cuteness, so these Coca Cola and Fanta Cup Lip Balms are ugh, absolutely adorable! I mean, I don't think anyone would take me seriously if I took one of these out and started using them, but I really loved these all so much for the packaging and flavours!

The Grape* and Orange* Fanta Lip Smackers were delightfully fruity and as someone who doesn't really like the scent of artificial grape, this one is actually quite appetizing! I have an unhealthy obsession with Coca Cola to the point where I can tell if I'm being served Pepsi and that I prefer my Coke in either metal or glass. It just doesn't taste the same in a plastic bottle! I know it's a terrible habit, but it was one that developed in college and whenever I have a burger or chips I always want Coke. The scent of the Coca Cola Lip Smacker* is subtle, but good with Cherry Coke* reminding me more of cough medicine. Then again, I was never one for Cherry Coke so I'm probably biased.

Final Verdict: Lip Smackers are beeswax-based so fairly hydrating considering the fun factor with repplication happening every couple of hours. The balms are all colourless making them really easy to use on a lazy day at home or after lunch at work when you don't feel like touching up. I display these on my desk so that I have a "soda bar" of sorts to choose from. Makes Mondays seem a bit more amusing!

Lip Smackers can be found at select mass retailers across North America. In Canada, I believe it is Lawtons, Wal Mart and Rexall.
