"O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree" - greetings to the first holiday-themed manicure of the season! I had really wanted to start much sooner, but I honestly haven't been all that inspired. Christmas nails are probably my least favourite forms of nail art (weird, I know considering the type of season it is) mainly because I feel like once you have done one form of Santa or reindeer nails, you've pretty much done them all. I've done Christmas minions and Seasonal Stormtroopers to add some variety to the typical Christmas manicures and I think I may have to do the same this year so any suggestions are welcomed!
One thing I don't use a lot, but really enjoy are nail vinyls. I think they are a great way to create repetitive patterns and when I tried out some great vinyls from Whats Up Nails for Canada Day, I knew I had to pick up some Christmas ones!
Starting off with two coats of metallic red polish, like this one from this years Rouge Louboutin Metalissime collection, I waited for my nails to dry completely before applying my Christmas Tree Vinyls and then painted one thick coat of the metallic finish Dior Emerald* from this year's Precious Rocks Collection over top. Peel off your vinyl right away and you have perfect Christmas trees! DON'T get distracted by your husband and wait 15 seconds for him to finish his story before peeling off your vinyl or you will end up with what happened on my index finger! I also added a bit , of gold glitter polish to a few of the trees because I thought they would look more fancy, but looking back I don't really like it much.
Since I thought Emerald was such a gorgeous colour here are some nail porn shots. The first coat was a bit streaky, but was rectified with the second coat.
Once your nails are dry, apply one coat of shiny top coat and you are good to go!
You can find the Dior Precious Rocks Collection and What Up Nails Christmas vinyls available now.
