NAILS | Let's Get Glittery for New Year's Eve with Red Carpet Manicure!

This is a sponsored post for Red Carpet Manicure and London Drugs.

I like to change up my nail polish a few times every week, but if I go on vacation or travel for work, I do not want to have to take time out to do my nails. Ever since the rise of DIY gel nail polish kits a few years ago, I have had the opportunity to try a few different systems and have consistently only featured one brand - Red Carpet Manicure. I am the first to admit that although I am comfortable with regular polish and the intricacies of the perfect manicure, there was something scary about a type of polish that needed special lights, preps, wipes and cures, BUT I am here to let all of you know that the Gel Polish Pro Kit* is by far one of the easiest and fastest kits to use and consistently delivers the shiniest and most durable manicures!

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, there are constantly things on my ever-growing to-do list and I know that as we near the end of 2017 and get into Christmas dinners and parties, time will be precious and I know many of you will want to have your manicures done now and not worry about them until 2018! With Red Carpet Manicure, the longest I have worn their polishes is a solid 12 days without a single chip and same shine so today I am going to share with you a fun manicure that will last you well into the new year!

What I love about gel polish manicures is that there is no "dry time". Once the polish has cured, you are honestly good to go! I will not lie that once before a work trip, I was literally curing my nails right up until my cab to the airport arrived. I had only started painting my nails 30 minutes beforehand so I was pushing it, but with gel polish you CAN do that.

The Gel Polish Pro Kit has everything you will need so the first thing you will need to do is prep your nails by dehydrating the nail plate so that the polish adheres well. To do this, you will wipe your nails with the nail cleanser "Purify", followed by the dehydrating step of "Prep". Apply one coat of your base coat called "Structure" and cure for 45 seconds. The LED lamp in this kit is timed for 45 seconds so no need to ask Siri to keep setting you a timer!

  • On HALF the nail, apply one THIN coat of Red Carpet Manicure LED Nail Gel Polish in Polished & Poised.
  • On the other half, apply one THIN coat of Red Carpet Manicure LED Nail Gel Polish in Paparazzied and cure the WHOLE nail.
  • Apply a second coat of each shade and use an orange stick or ideally a thin dotting tool to swirl the two shades together. Cure.
  • Apply one coat of Tinsel Town to whichever side you like or even the whole nail and cure.
  • Apply one coat of the top coat "Brilliance" and cure.
  • Wipe off any tackiness from the top coat with the lint-free wipes included in the kit with "Purify".

The key thing to remember with gel polish is to take your time (since it never dries), paint in thin layers (I cannot stress this enough) and avoid getting it on your skin (it burns if it cures on your skin). You will know when your polish has cured properly when you can tap your nails against each other and they do not stick! Once this is done, apply some of the "Revitalize" cuticle oil to your nail beds and I guarantee your nails will be good to go for two weeks and look professionally done!
