MAKEUP | Cheekbone Beauty Lipgloss in Agave and Sundance

I am totally smitten with Cheekbone Beauty in more ways than one! If it weren't for Jenn Harper and her Cheekbone Beauty Team, I would never have known about Coursera's Indigenous Canada course which, as slow as I have been in getting through it, has been an eye opener! If you do end up taking it, you will never look at your Social Studies education or the land you live on the same again. You are going to wonder why it is taking so long for Indigenous people to have the same access to basic rights like education, health services and even clean water! This course has been just the tip of the iceberg as I will Google something that leads me down a rabbit hole of battles the First Nations have been fighting for years. It may sound dramatic, but everytime I use a Cheekbone product, not only do I "ooh and aah" at the pretty shades and performance, but I am continually reminded of how this brand is trying to be different in a "shades of Glossier" beauty space and that I need to do and learn more as my world is still so small when it comes to BIPOC issues. The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society has been really useful to me as this is where I went to learn more about Shannen Koostachin and donate to the Shannen's Dream Foundation.

Now, on to the lipgloss! If it weren't for all of the mask wearing, I would be loading up on CBB lipglosses, but such is not our reality now so I got two neutral shades just to try and wear around the house and I adore them! Like all of their other products, these lipglosses are made in Canada and enriched with Vitamin E for hydration.

Scented in vanilla with a simple doe foot applicator, these lipglosses are what I call "blanket glosses" because I will even reach for them when my lips are crying out for moisture. They are thick and envelop the lips in a layer of comfort, but they are NOT sticky! We are all familiar with how sticky MAC Lipglass is and I was preparing for that feeling initially, but incredibly these last for longer than you think they would! I definitely don't find myself needing to constantly reapply and once the high shine wears down, I feel like my lips are left with a comfortable level of hydration.

I was playing around with the Norvina Vol.2 palette and with such a loud eye, a nude lip seemed best and Agave was perfect. I reach for Agave all the time when I am at home and I cannot get enough of this lovely sheer nude!

At first, I thought this soft coral shade would be too peachy on me, but it turned out to be just the right amount of coral to brighten up my face.

Final verdict: LOVE. I would probably get a few more shades in the future, but right now matte, long wear lip products are still what I am wearing the most (I picked up three more of Cheekbone's liquid lipsticks!). These are among the most comfortable lipglosses I've worn that last and don't feel like "makeup". I have found myself even wearing them post-shower at night around the house just because they FEEL nice. Occasionally I get super dry and irritated lips where the only thing that helps is sealing them with Vaseline, but these lipglosses have interestingly enough helped to soothe them as well! Another product I would totally recommend from this brand!
