MAKEUP | Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pens

During the height of Quarantine, I think we all had some time to go through our personal possessions and either dump or rediscover things. While I actively use Pixi's skincare (sheet masks, exfoliators, moisturizers and face oils), with the exception of the MatteLast Liquid Lipsticks and Pixiglow blushes, I often forget to use their other makeup products and they have some GOOD products! I recently pulled out the Endless Silky Eye Pens as I have been more conscious about my eye makeup for work and trying to have some fun with shades other than black or brown. I never want to go too crazy with my colours though as my eyeshadow is usually a neutral colour and these five eyeliners are work-friendly and don't require too much effort to coordinate with.

Coming in 23 shades, as the name of the product indicates, these gel eyeliners are indeed silky and are pigmented! There is no tugging whatsoever along the waterline or on top of eyeshadow. That's usually my true test of silkiness - whether it glides easily over top eyeshadow! I barely have to apply any pressure before I get a solid swipe of color.

While the formula is waterproof, my waterline gets pretty teary so I do lose colour in this area over a couple of hours, but I have yet to meet an eyeliner that has lasted a full work day on my waterline. The eyeliner does last on my lower lashline with minimal smudging at the end of a 9 hour day. Though this formula is nice and soft as you apply, it does set after about 5 seconds so while you don't have to work like you are trying to win a race, keep that in mind if you would like to blend for a smoky eye. After time is up, it's pretty much not going to move!

I also like a very sharp tip for my eyeliner so I keep my sharpener closeby and with softer formulas like this one, the Pixi website advises to place the eyeliners in the FREEZER for just a few minutes prior to sharpening so that you don't get gooey eyeliner all over the sharpener. I had thought about trying this before, but I was scared I would f*** up the pencil! Good to know there won't be any ill effects from doing this!

The shades I use the most are "Rose Glow", "Black Blue" and "Black Noir", but "Matte Mulberry" has been more and more of an option as we head into Fall as it is neutral like a brown, but has a reddish tone to it for when I decide to do more Fall-inspired eye makeup. You're probably wondering when I would use "Velvet Violet" and though it's not everyday, I use it on my waterline as a way to brighten up my eye if I am wearing a light eyeshadow look. It looks a bit shimmery on me once I apply it and almost blends in with my eye instead of sticking out like a pastel purple dinosaur.

Final verdict: Though these eyeliners aren't what I would put in the "affordable drugstore" category, at $16 CDN, these perform and feel A LOT like the eyeliners that are well about the $20 mark and come in a variety of shades. Based on how these were performing, I actually thought they cost way more before I checked the price because I have obviously been conditioned to think that an eyeliner that performs like this should cost almost double! Suffice it to say, these are now among my favourite eyeliners because of price, performance and shade options!
