SHEET MASK | La Mer Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask

If you haven't figured it out yet, I love my skincare and though I tend to stick with more clinical and/or what are categorized as "green beauty brands", I do occasionally wander over to the old school luxury skincare and beauty houses like La Prairie, Guerlain, Dior and La Mer. I tend to prefer a low fragrance in my skincare and many of these classic beauty houses love a strong floral in their formulations which is a bit of a deterrent for me. If I will most likely be spending a minimum of $200 for a single product, I really want to like it! La Mer is one of those brands where other than the foundation and a sample of their Creme de la Mer Moisturizing Creme, I have been hesitant to take the plunge to try more. Firstly, I have so much skincare at home that I haven't even tried yet, so buying more at a luxury price doesn't seem like the best thing to do, but mainly because I just haven't been intrigued about a product of theirs yet. Then I started researching and found a cult following for La Mer's Treatment Lotion which led me to the Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask! This was my toe in the water before committing to possibly trying the full size product and I have to say, I am DEFINITELY interested in trying it now!

La Mer Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask Review
Purchased by me

The Treatment Lotion contains La Mer's "miracle broth" which is a fusion of algae and 73 sea minerals to replenish and reinvigorate skin cells as well as make skin softer and supple. I mean, all of that sounds pretty good to me and the ingredients looked quite lovely as well! Each sheet mask is infused with 30mL of Treatment Lotion and guarantees a revived and plumped complexion in just 8 minutes (I feel like the number "8" is for the Asian market as 10 or 7 minutes would not be much of a difference).

The mask itself is made of millions of pure jet spun nanofibers allowing the mask to hug the face even though it is a relatively thick fabric. The way this mask felt on reminded me of the SK-II sheet mask where both were soaking in essence, stayed solidly moist for almost 30 minutes and as I am looking at the packaging, this mask is actually made in Japan! Maybe the similarities are justified!

La Mer Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask Review

Mask Summary:

Price: $40 CDN or $215 CDN/6 masks (EXPENSIVE!)
Skin concerns: Dullness, lackluster complexion
Scent: Expensive? LOL, like classic La Mer. Quite pleasant actually.
Essence Type: Clear, watery and A LOT left in the packet!
Duration: The instructions say just 8 minutes, but WHO is going to let a $40 mask sit on their face for just 8 minutes?? I did my usual 20 minutes and the mask was hydrated the whole time.
Thickness: Thick, very similar to SK-II sheet mask.
Mask Fit: Quite a number of extra folds that I couldn't get rid of around the chin area, but other than that, the mask felt very secure as the mask sheet material was a bit thicker.
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good!
Other notes: N/A

La Mer Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask Review

Final verdict: This mask is an expensive one...probably one of the most pricey ones I have tried, BUT it was actually quite nice in terms of fragrance and results and the whole experience has made me want to try a the full size Treatment Lotion to see if we can sustain these skin-plumping results! The 100mL size of the lotion is $140 and if I wait until Sephora has their sale it's not too big of a hit to the wallet and from the instructions, you only need a few drops so this will definitely be on my list for Christmas!
