NAILS | Getting into the St.Patrick's Day Spirit with Nubar - Reclaim (Reborn!) Swatch

There is nothing like St. Patrick's Day to get a girl to go through her 1400 bottles of nail polish to find ALL THE GREEN POLISH. This post is special because it is the first time I have worn a polish more than once on this blog! Nubar Reclaim is a bit of a cult classic if you've been following nail polish and its blogging counterparts for the last 5 years. Holo nail polishes were all the rage in 2012 and I have some awesome ones to still wear and share on Cosmetic Proof. Nubar Reclaim was my very first linear holo and you can see why everyone loves it - it is pure green HEAVEN.

I first blogged about Nubar Reclaim (here) in 2012 and honestly wanted both the opportunity to wear it again as well as to redo my swatch of them now that I have picked up a few extra photography tips!

Guest Post with Zoe from Writing Whimsy!

Today I have the wonderful Zoe from Writing Whimsy on the blog today! She is my FAVOURITE scientist and has one of those blogs where I read it and feel like I’m in a Zen garden. Her posts and writing are informative, yet light and you can’t help but want to be her friend when you’re done reading. (You’ll probably want to be her friend after this post so please head on over to Writing Whimsy and say hello!)

I was a bit stuck (and very late) on what to blog about for a transitioning to summer theme on Jayne's blog when inspiration hit. Or rather, inspiration arrived in the form of a mistaken Beauty Box 5 for May. This is a box meant for new subscribers, not existing ones, I had already gotten many of these items before-- but they do match the theme perfectly.

Beauty Box 5 | January 2014

This is the first of the last three of my Beauty Box 5 boxes. I was subscribed to BB5 for almost 2 years and even though they are one of my favourite boxes both for product selection and price, I have decided not to renew my subscription for now. I have a lot of product to go through and although I’m sure I will miss whatever shows up in these boxes, I REALLY need to get through what I have!

I have no product card in this box for some reason and I really don’t feel like hunting each of these products down so I will just show pictures and share my excitement or lack thereof for each product!

Beauty Box 5 | Review and Critique

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription-based sample service that I have been subscribed to since of August 2012. BB5 is based in Austin, Texas and has been one of the more consistent subscription services in terms of pricing and content. The subscription prices are exactly the same as when I first blogged about my first box which is saying something since every other subscription I’ve had has gone up in price by a few dollars. In fact, if you see below, the yearly subscription price has actually DECREASED by $1!

Day 7-Cadbury Mini Eggs Skittles

Today is the start of the long weekend for most of us so forgive me for the brevity of this manicure, but in keeping with the Easter theme and what I’ve been chomping on for the better part of the week, here are my Cadbury Mini Eggs nails! You can even see that I was too impatient to wait for the dots to dry as there is major case of smearing.

For my egg colours, I used Pretty & Polished–Delightful Daisy, Model’s Own-Beth’s Blue, Model’s Own-Pastel Pink and Sally Hansen XTremeWear-White On. The brown speckles were done with Nubar-Milk Chocolate Creme. I finished with a coat of Gosh-Matt Effect Top Coat.

Day 30–Inspired by a Tutorial or Spiderweb Fishnets

I was not ready to give up on Halloween-themed nails just yet since I haven’t really had a chance to do any this month because of the challenge, so I have chosen yet another cutepolish tutorial and even though it didn’t turn out quite like how I had envisioned, I still think it looks pretty snazzy. I started off by sponging on three layers of Zoya – Arizona, followed by a gorgeous holographic glitter called Nubar – Star Sparkle. I then did the rest of this design with black acrylic paint.

As for those of you who were sweet enough to ask about the guy who hit my parked car, he hasn’t accepted any responsibility…even though I literally had grocery bags in my hand, was walking through the parking lot and wasn’t even in the car when it happened! Another woman actually had to help me flag him down! He’s denying it! I hope karma gets him good! Sigh, just another thing to deal with…

Day 28–Inspired by a Flag

Like Naomi, I am running out of ideas and steam as well! I didn’t really have a lot of time for today’s design so I decided to use the flag of Switzerland as my inspiration. My reason? It was my fiancé's suggestion! Instead of using a regular creme red, I decided to use a holo red called Prize by Nubar and then I painted on the white cross with acrylic paint. There is actually a coat of Glitter Gal – Light as a Feather, a white holo polish on top of the white, but you can barely see it :( This isn’t my proudest moment in terms of nail art, but it’ll do for today! At least I have a red holo on my nails which makes me happy!

Nubar - Gem

Hi jewels!

Today I’m wearing Nubar’s Gem which is definitely up there in terms of unique polishes. I would describe it as a taupey purple scattered holo. It’s one of the coolest holos I’ve ever worn! I loved Nubar’s Reclaim and now I have to add Gem as well! This is three thin coats with a top coat. For some reason, I’m showing polish shrinkage grrr…And like all holos, I had to show this polish with flash to activate those scintillating holo particles!

St.Paddy’s Nails – Nubar “Reclaim”

 Happy St.Patrick’s Day everyone!

I was planning on doing some sort of nail art for the occasion, but I fell asleep and it just got too late to do anything fun so I figured I’d just do a swatch of an amazing polish I picked up from Harlow & Co. last week. I have been captivated by Nubar’s “Reclaim” ever since I started “holo hunting” and it does not disappoint! This is 2 coats of polish plus a top coat. Another polish to love :-)
