HAIR | m'Chel Haircare Day After Brush Dry Shampoo

m'Chel Haircare Day After Brush Dry Shampoo
Purchased by me

I have been looking forward to featuring m'Chel Haircare for a long time! This is a powdered dry shampoo that seemed to work absolute wonders for everyone's hair so I put this brand on my wishlist sometime in 2021, thanks to a glowing recommendation from Jenn Harper of Cheekbone Beauty. I kept hesitating on purchasing because of the US exchange rate AND the $25 international shipping charge which put this dry shampoo in the luxury pricepoint once all was said and done, but now that I have bit the bullet, I cannot see myself using anything else!

HAIR | Getting to Know Voir Haircare (Made in Canada!)

Voir Haircare Review
Purchased by me

I first took note of Voir when I saw it grace @thestoryofmar's Instagram a number of times. When it comes to a good product/brand, Marion is one of the few I trust! Initially, the packaging caught my eye and then when I realized Voir was Canadian, I was even more intrigued as there are not that many Canadian haircare companies. I made in vow in 2020 to support more Canadian brands so this is when I made my first purchase!

HAIR | Design.ME Quickie.ME Dry Shampoo

I have become quite the collector of dry shampoo spray especially now that that there are so many good ones out there for dark hair, but as many as I have tried, I still currently stick to COLAB, Kristen Ess and now Design.ME

HAIR | COLAB Volume Extreme Dry Shampoo Review

Last year I was astounded by a dry shampoo called COLAB. It simply just worked. I went through the 50mL size in the space of a month and loaded up on the full size when it finally showed up at my local London Drugs (review). After I had mentioned the lack of volume the Sheer Invisible version of COLAB provided, I was sent the Volume Extreme (VE) version in the scent London* to try out. Let's say I loved it so much that I also own the Volume Extreme version in Tokyo and Monaco!

HAIR | COLAB Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo in Rio Tropical and London Classic Review

COLAB Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo Rio Tropical London Classic Review
It has been a long time since I have talked about a dry shampoo. That’s because I’m not really impressed by a whole lot of them. I truly did not think I would find a new favourite since the Finesse dry shampoo (review), but then COLAB showed up. In collaboration with model and blogger, Ruth Crilly, COLAB Dry Shampoo both smells amazing (like an actual fragrance!) and WORKS to keep hair from feeling “lived in”. They also spray clear and do not leave a heavy residue behind (dark-haired beauties celebrate!).This debut collection comes in two scents: Rio*($5.49 CDN for 50mL/$9.99CDN for 200mL), a tropical blend of papaya, pineapple and heart of cassis and London*, a blend of bergamot, musk and magnolia. London won me over immediately and was the first can I completely finished! I loved how sophisticated and refreshing the scent was and may have gone a little crazy with the spraying at times…I finished Rio shortly after and  just 2 days ago, ran out and bought the full size! I cannot get enough of this stuff!

Final Verdict: While these dry shampoos don’t add a ton of volume to your hair, they do a great job of absorbing oil right at the root. There were days when I would forget that I hadn’t washed my hair because my roots still looked fresh. The scent of London is to die for and words cannot convey how grateful my nose is for coming into contact with this scent. I just LOVE it. I just wish the full size wasn’t quite so expensive because I powered through both of these bottles fairly quickly. Although, that may have been because I was having a little too much fun with my dry shampoos! If you love the spray type of dry shampoo, oh God, you have GOT to give these COLAB ones a try!

COLAB is available at London Drugs, Jean Coutu, Lawtons and select Pharmasaves and PharmaChoice.

Cake Beauty | Rush Brush–Your On-the-Go Answer to Fresh-Looking Hair!

I’ve been with Cake Beauty a long time. Our relationship is going on 5 years now and I’ve seen and used some pretty unique products that I’ve seen Cake do first. My VERY FIRST dry shampoo was the Satin Sugar Dry Shampoo and even though I loved that freshly baked cookie smell, I was never good at keeping the powdery mess to a minimum. Then came the Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray, which I still use and love. Now, I’ve started a new relationship. This time, it’s with the brand spankin’ new Rush Brush ($22 CDN) which features the much loved satin sugar dry shampoo AND there is actually a DARK dry shampoo powder for those with black hair like me! The two shades shown below are for DARKEST and DARK hair hues.

Finesse | Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo

I officially have a new favourite dry shampoo in the form of Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo ($4.49 CDN)! Dry shampoo has saved almost all of us from flat, lifeless hair in the mornings and now that I have tried a few different brands, it takes something extra special for me to really like one. This Finesse dry shampoo is a clear spray that has one of the stronger “blasts” I’ve experienced. The formula promises to absorb oil without leaving behind a chalky residue and most importantly nourish hair leaving it looking healthy and shiny.

Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo

Final Verdict: Whenever I skip just ONE day of washing my hair my scalp always feels itchy. I don’t know why, but it’s almost like my scalp is addicted to getting shampooed every day. Very few dry shampoos have alleviated this sensation which is why I only skip washing my hair unless I really have to. This canister needs a very good shake before delivering a good spray, but once it does, I forget that all I’ve done is use dry shampoo and not actually washed my hair! My roots actually look fresh and I don’t feel itchy!

The scent reminds me of fresh linen and although I have not noticed whether the presence of keratin protein has made my hair stronger, the combination of whatever is in this can of Finesse has made my hair look fresh, shiny and ready to go one more round minus the actual act of hair washing! For 150g of product, this dry shampoo is incredibly well-priced so I would highly recommend giving Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo a try!
