HAIR | Design.ME Quickie.ME Dry Shampoo

I have become quite the collector of dry shampoo spray especially now that that there are so many good ones out there for dark hair, but as many as I have tried, I still currently stick to COLAB, Kristen Ess and now Design.ME

Last month, Design.ME Hair released the Quickie.ME Dry Shampoo Spray and Foam* with the foam for quick daily refreshes and the spray for third or fourth day hair. Both of these products are for all hair and scalp types with the spray even coming in two options: one for blonde and pastel tones and another for brunette and darker tones. With having coloured hair for the last 3 years, dry shampoo has been my best friend although I have never been able to train my hair to go more than 3 days without washing in the more humid Vancouver climate. When I was in Vegas, I could easily go up to 5 days without feeling any itchiness or discomfort because the air was so dry!

The press package for this was quite daring compared to press packages I have seen in the past with the whole premise being a play on the word "quickie" and its double meaning for gettin' a little sumthin' sumthin' in the morning and having your hair refreshed in just a few sprays. FYI, the condom they provided was BLUE to match LOL!

Both the Quickie.ME Spray and Foam work to absorb and control oil production, cleanse and refresh the scalp and hair, provide volume at the roots and condition hair by preventing static and excess build-up. Scent is an important feature for dry shampoos and I really liked the scent of these. It's hard to describe, but it reminds me a lot of a toned down version of Mugler Alien which I know is a love/hate relationship for some, but I quite enjoyed it.

The spray is the format of dry shampoo I prefer and even though the instructions advise to use this only at the third or fourth day of unwashed hair, my scalp starts to go crazy at day 2. What is nice about this spray is that even though it doesn't give the crazy lift that my beloved COLAB Extreme Volume does, it's almost like it puts my hair back at day 1 after it has been freshly washed gives a slight lift to my roots without leaving behind product grit.

I was quite scared to try the foam at first because there is something about mashing a golf ball-sized amount of product right into your hair and hoping that it will do what it says! Lo and behold, it actually worked! It made my hair feel very fresh and though it's not the same as actually washing it, it did take away that feeling of grubbiness and greasiness that can start appearing at my roots. There was also no residue left on my hair.

Final verdict: Both the spray and foam have been welcome additions to my dry shampoo routine with the foam being a refreshingly pleasant surprise in how much better my scalp and hair felt after using them. I still wash my hair every third day, but at least now the third day, where my scalp is most uncomfortable, feels much more like the second with no discomfort. These are the first products I have tried from Design.ME and I cannot wait to try more!

The Design.ME Spray and Foam both retail for $22 CDN and can be found at all Trade Secrets and Chatters locations nationwide as well as designmehair.com
